If Dwight was a 75% ft shooter in games he would easily be a top 3 player in the NBA. Hope he can figure it out.

Sounds like Howard has been getting some good advice from FT experts.

[rquoter]In his career, Howard has shot 49.2 percent from the free throw line but has said he has hopes of shooting at least 75 percent this season.[/rquoter]

So much misinformation from ESPN on Dwight Howard ...

    Pscychological issue? Yes.

    Small sample size? Not really.

The drop off from practice to game situations is staggering.

That's very interesting. I think a huge part is players get in rhythm when they shoot a bunch of FTs at a time. In a game situation, you are only shooting 1-3 FT's at a time. In practice, they probably shoot at least 10 in a row every time, if not more, so they can pad their percentages with rhythm shooting. The first one is always the hardest to make.

As long as Howard produces every where else i dont really care on his free throw shooting percentage. Look at Yao Ming, great free throw shooter but couldn't stay healthy and not nearly as good defense. I'll take the health and better defense any day.

Now if it comes down to the last few minutes of the game he has to be clutch on these free throws, which i think he can do. He's proved he can be counted on (with the Magic) to win games.

FWIW Yao pretty much got the better of Howard in their head to head matchups ....
