Hey guys, how yall feel bout the Bucks??? Bogut Magloire Redd Simmons Ford The starting lineup is decent.....Bogut looks good the first couple of games, hopefully gets better as the season goes on. Ford looks awesome with his leadership. Redd schooled the Nets last nite..... The bench looks pretty weak though with the exception of Mo Will. How yall feel? Low seed playoffs??? Definitely wont challenge the Big 3 in the East....
If you read several threads down, you'd know. Personally, I like them a lot. T.J.'s a hometown guy and my parents used to live halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago, so I like the town. That's how I choose teams to try and keep my interest outside of Houston teams-do I like the town. That's why I generally like teams from Chicago, Milwuakee, and the Bay Area. I have no idea why I shared.
Being an Aussie I will follow the Bucks pretty closely this year due to Bogut. TJ has really impressed me so far and I must say I didn't have the biggest expectations of Bogut but he looks like he should be able to get the job done. I'm not saying he will be a star but he should be serviceable at the very least.
because I go to school just outside of Milwauke, the Bucks have become a "local" team for me. They have a very "community" sense about them in thier promotions and what not. I love thier line up. They are a fun team to watch. They play well, they are young, and score, and don't play terrible defense, though it isn't Detriot's or anything. Only thing I don't like is their coach. Serriously, Terry Stotts? Why was Terry Porter ever fired, I'll never know. Thought he did a good job, especially due to last year's circumstances (team had some terrible injuries on it). But hey, what do I know. I think they may just get the 5 seed in the East, call me crazy. I think they will do what the Bulls did last year. Actually, I think they'll just take the Bulls place.
Their bench isn't nearly as weak as you make it out to be. They also have Dan Gadzuric, Joe Smith, Toni Kukoc, Ervin Johnson and Jiri Welsch. That's not bad. I'm from Baytown originally so I'm a big TJ Ford fan. I really like their squad in the east now. I think they've got a really solid team this year too. Two bruising bigs and a well rounded Bobby Simmons make up their frontcourt, and their backcourt is one of the best in the league if Ford stays healthy. Decent depth at every position but shooting guard, where Redd figures to play the most minutes on the team anyway.... I like them. I'll be rooting for them in the East. I think they'll finish somewhere around 4-6 in the East, easily making the playoffs.
Agreed. I don't know if they will get anything from Welsh and EJ, but Gadz, Mo W and Koucok are excellent 6th-8th men. Charlie Bell may end up being a decent sub too. Along with good overall depth, they have 3 excellent bigs (how many teams can say this), excellent shooters (Redd/Simmons) and some excellent passers (Ford, Bogut). I think two quality road wins in 2 tries is not a total fluke. They probably won't win a series this year, but they will make the playoffs and they are one of the up and coming in the East. Redd might have been smarter to stay there after all, they could easily have better chemistry and a better half court (playoff style) game down the line than Cleveland.
I think they are fun to watch now. But will get old mid-season. They still need a mega star. Bogut could be that dude.
They'll definitely crack the playoffs. I'd say 5th or 6th seed...T.J. Ford makes all the difference on that team from last year to this year.
If i were in the East, that's a team i wouldn't want to come across in the playoffs. They can play uptempo with Ford and Redd or slow it down and post up Bogut. I think their game will be simliar to Detroit of TJ can bulk up a little and work on his defense.
I don't see the Detroit comparison, they don't have those kinds of tough defenders all over the court. However Seattle of last year or the Kings of a few years ago, that I can see. Those teams can play some superb, hard to handle O when hot, and some OK defense lead by some good big men. They won't be better than Det or Indy in their division this year because those two are great defensive teams, but like I said they could be better than Clev or Chi b/c they may be much harder to handle in the half court. Great distributers, great shooters, and post options--good formula for success.
Good comparisons. I don't see the Pistons either. They're definitely close to Seattle last year though. Somewhat like the Kings, except while I think the Bucks bigs are definitely quality players, I don't see any of them being able to impact a game like Chris Webber could back then.
The Bucks look very good to start the season. I said this when it happened and still believe it. Them firing Terry Porter was wrong because T J Ford was out all of last season and as you can see he was a huge part of that team. With Ford back the Bucks are 2-0 However Terry Stotts is a good coach to and I think was the prefect chioce for this Milwaukee team. Go Rockets!!!
3-0 now. League Pass is awesome, I'm gonna get it and call It NBA Bucks pass. That team is fun to root for.
I was pulling hard for the Bucks team this year, mainly because: 1) I wanted to see TJ back, 2) I wanted to see Bogut do well, and 3) I wanted to see Redd prove that he deserved that contract. They're a fun young team to watch, going to be pulling for them to upset some of the "conference powers" in the east come playoff time...
Heh heh, the Pacers are showing 'em who's boss. After this game, I hope the Bucks go on a long win streak.
Oooooooooooh nooooooooooo!!! I can't believe the Pacers choked away this game. Well, if it had to be someone, I'm glad it's the Bucks. But what a major bummer.
