If the Knicks go with a point guard, that might lead to a trade of Marbury, who is 29 and not expected to contend for a title anytime soon.

Several teams out West, including Minnesota, Memphis, Houston and even San Antonio would be interested in a talented veteran who is better suited to be the second or third best player on a team. The Knicks won just 33 games last season, which means no one is untouchable, not even Thomas' pet player.

I'd much rather have Steve Francis back than Stephen Marbury.

If they also include Kurt Thomas and their first round pick for the next 3 years.

He's a cancer. Every team he's been a part of is a losing team, not to mention he's only been to the playoffs twice in his career. You thought Francis drove Van Gundy crazy, Marbury would be a nightmare. He's got all the talent in the world but thats about it. The intangibles arent there.

You can make your teammates better. You can have no impact on your teammates play. You can make your teammates worse.

Marbury, unfortunately, falls into the last class. Everybody he plays with plays worse with him.

    He's absolutely terrible.

Marbury will make more $ this coming season than TMac. And he has 3 more seasons after this. No thanks.

i have never been a fan of Marbury, but, if I were C.D., I'd certainly have to consider it long and hard. Aside from his scoring ability from all over the floor, Marbury's worst assist season average was 7.5 apg. No team would dare double T-Mc and/or Ming leaving Starbury on the loose. Also, if anybody can get his head on straight, that person would be JVG.

No, the more I think about it, I'd have to pull the trigger on that one. Both Ming and T-Mc are secure in their personages and would yield part of their limelight to Marbury so that his ego would not be such a factor as we fear.

First they talk about Latrell Sprewell, and I think it can't get any worse. But then it does - they talk about Antoine Walker. Then I think, 'Ok. It definitely can't get worse than Antoine Walker talk.' and that's probably true, but this is pretty damned close.

JVG v Starbury. I'd pay to see those practices, to see their relationship blossom.

Why? Steve Francis is a bonehead and has absolutely no business playing point guard with his lack of court instincts. Francis averaged 4.06 TO/game this year comapred to 2.84 per game for Marbury. For the sake of argument, Marbury's career TO/game average of 3.2 per game is lower than Jason Kidd's at 3.32.

At age 19, Marbury was the best player and leader of that TWolve's playoff team, not Kevin Garnett. They went to him in all the crucial stretches that year, and he delivered.

I think Marbury is another case where if people keep drilling something into your head long enough, you start to believe it. Kind of like this board's fascination with Marko Jaric and Jiri Welsch. He's a damn good point guard who just has his problems. He has great point guard instincts, is a great distributor, and might be one of the 3 best penetrators in the league. His problem is that he dominates the ball too much, but I don't see why that can't be straightened out by a coach like JVG. Kevin Johnson dominated the ball more than even Steph, but he never got criticized because they had great teams. We have absolutely nothing to offer NY, but I'd take Marbury if I could.

Marbury? LOL. Amare couldn't get the ball enough so the Suns traded away Marbury for garbage and it proved to be one brilliant move by them.

Marbury is one of the biggest ball hogs in NBA if not the biggest, a team chemistry killer. His assists are high because he hogs the ball so much. Not only Yao but Tmac won't see the ball enough if he's the point guard for Rockets. Not to mention his piss poor defense and his supuer huge ego.

He makes too much. Over $19 mil a year for the next 4 years. For half that amount I would be interested, even with all the potential problems, but he's definitely not worth that much money.

Went to him in all the crucial situations? You kiddin me???!!!!!????!!!! Went to him????!!!!!!!

More like....................................couldn't pry the ball out of his mits so they could get it to anybody else besides him. Throw all the stats up you want to. They don't make a difference. He is a loser and his teammates can't stand him. He could score 50 and dish 12 dimes a night, but if his teammates don't want to play with him, it ain't gonna work, and it hasn't worked. Every team he has been on got better after he left. He is an overrated, punk, ballhog, who insipires none of his teammates and should be in Europe or the NBDL learning how to run a team and reading Dale Carnegie. If it wasn't for his multimillion dollar contract, he would have gotten cut a long time ago. This thread should be locked.

If the Rockets could get him for Moochie Norriss. And Marbury would play for free. Than I'd still say no to Marbury. He is one of those guys for me that I never want to see in a Houston uniform.
