Has anyone tried the SlingBox? It sounds pretty good, but it definitely has the potential to suck.

We just got it. My dad is in Saudi Arabia and watches my cable channels from here in tx.

It kicks ass. Definetly worth the $200 tag.

If you are looking for something like it that's free, go to http://www.orb.com .

We used to use that but found SlingBox better, mainly because of the quality of streaming and software.

I've used orb for years and still do for other things.

There are several ways to watch online..

1st is pplive which is a Chinese p2p service that streams live tv. Generally games are on CCTV-5 and occasionally on star sports. The downside is that the games are in Chinese. http://www.pplive.com/en/index.shtml

2nd is ppstream which is basically the same thing using another service. I personally like this one better because it is personally easier to use. http://all-streaming-media.com/peer-to-peer-TV/p2p-streaming-Internet-TV-PPStream.htm

3rd is streamtvnow which costs about 3 bucks a month but streams sports games of all sorts. Also you can request specific games to be streamed. They have a fairly large rockets audience so rockets games are always streamed. The benefit of this is that its in english and you got other sports games. http://www.streamtvnow.com

4th is Sopcast which is basically another Chinese p2p service that's pretty easy to use. It worked for me the one time I tried it. http://www.sopcast.org/

5th is Slingbox but that costs around 250 dollars and requires that it be hooked up to someone's tv who does have access to the games. streamtvnow is essentially a bunch of people who have slingboxes that broadcast random games.

6th is orb which is an alternative to slingbox. I havent tried this before so i dont know much about it. The advantage of this is that its free as opposed to slingbox. http://www.orb.com
