How do you use their skill sets together?

    Consider offense this time.

Yao - Can see, pass, shoot. Not strong, not fast.
Steve - can cross 1-1, drive, hit open shot. Not good in a crowd.
Cat - can cross 1-1, hit fallaway j, cut quick, finish. Not good pass.

Seems like you want to get the ball to Yao asap with Steve and Cat close for easy return pass. Trying to pass late in the clock is going to be a problem. If they can pass the ball up the court instead of dribbling it, then swing it quickly to the wing or off guard it should speed the entry.

Then you need to break the guards free with picks or quick first step. Guards need to help each other by picking opposite man or clearing out with decoy to open space for shot or drive. If the guards can move in, suck the defense, and back up, it should give space for a shot or open space options on the wing or for the PF.
If the ball moves there and then back to a guard who has now reset for a midrange j, also good.

I wouldn't think it's useful to have our guards spot up at the 3 or force into a crowd. I don't think the team is good at interior or cross court passing. They're not going to be threading any needles. It's going to need a series of quick little angular passes to have our guys work their skills without bad errors.

    Look forward to your thoughts.

    Good thinking.

    I'm looking forward to MacBeth's thoughts. :)

Hopefully they will be a balanced team using various types of offenses.....

    Don't forget Eddie and Posey!

With Van Gundy saying that those three are the core of this team, what do those who wanted to trade Cat now think will be the best move for houston?

Its going to take a lot of hard work by JVG and the players concerned! It might even take a miracle.
