For the last few months I have been getting 2-3 calls a day on my cell phone from 801-229-2252. The few times I have answered, the person calling says that I have won a contest. I have told them not to call me back repeatedly and am registered with donotcall.gov. I know I can block the number but does anyone know if there is a free way to stop these calls?

What kind of phone do you have? On my Pre there is an app where I can block calls.

I have an iPhone. I'm not sure if such an app exists for the iPhone.

I'm sure you could block the number. Maybe not, I have no idea.

Yeah I was going to say use this......

The app I have on my Pre is called Youview. Not sure if they have it for the Iphone. It basically takes over as my voicemail. If I know a number and I want it blocked, I just enter their number in. I have the option to pick their voicemail greeting, and it's usually, "This number has been disconnected" message. Works like a charm.

Once they call, it goes straight to the message and they NEVER call back.

Thanks.. It looks like this is for jailbroken iphones. I may temporarily jailbreak it to just get them to stop calling me.

Yes. This! I was thinking of this but couldn't remember. Youview is similar to this.

Yep, one of the best features, in my opinion. Like you described, if you block a caller it will give them the standard operator message, "This number has been disconnected...(etc etc)" Totally seamless and the person on the other side has no idea that it isn't a legit message. So awesome.

You can also mark numbers as "spam" with Google Voice. If you do that, the number will be sent to voicemail every time without your phone ringing. They'll hear rings on their end, but your phone won't actually ring.

Yeah the girl who had my number before me must be in some serious debt. I get University of Phoenix and like 8 other places switching off bothering me. I don't want to change my number again. They will call from different numbers. I tried answering and telling them she hasn't had the number for like 2 years now and they say they will stop but they don't. I'm gonna have to block a lot of numbers.
