i'm putting in a new hard drive and how the heck do I save each individual email?
Do I have to open each one and save as .eml?
I'm know theres an easier way.

    thanks!:)

What mail client are you using?

If Outlook you can make a PST file.

Do a search for OUTLOOK in start-find-files or folders

In your search, there will probably be a folder in a C:\Windows\application data\identities folder labeled Outlook Express..... open it, if it has huge files along with your email identites and what not, that's your email folder.

    burn that to a CD

then after you install your new hard drive and install your outlook express you can find that folder again and replace it...

but do this BEFORE you set up your mail, cause all your settings are in this folder and it will re-instate just like before...

be sure to clean out your email, delete junk and maybe whatever sent mail you don't need...

you might also want to search for your .wab file. this is your Windows Address Book.... its probably in C:\Windows somewhere..

    good luck

If you switch to an email client other than what you are currently using, this method won't work...

I think the easiest way is too export all your email to a .pst file.
it should be located under the file menu.
then just save it somewhere other then the hard drive you are going to format. then import it in later.

I think Nutcracker's way is the easiest. Saving the .pst only gets your email messages, but outlook comes with another function where you can save all the settings of your account (name, password, pop/smtp server) as a file and set up your new account in seconds.
