What is the proper way to resign from a temporary position?
Like, how many days of notice should I give?
and do I need a resignation letter?

    Thanks in advance!

If you want to use the position on your resume, then give at least two weeks notice.

    Having temped myself for years:

Dude, you're a temp. You don't get benefits and they could drop your ass on a moment's notice. It's not like you owe them the same courtesy a full-time salary employee with benefits would allow.

If they've been good to you, be good to them. If it's a company you need to keep good a good relationship with, leave on the best terms possible.

But it's not like you announce you're leaving, and they say "How could you!! Noooooo!!!" If they need you bad, they'd offer you a position. I have had friends give notice, and THEN the company offers a position in order to keep that person.

And if you don't just leave on the day you want to be your last and don't come back.

If you do give the two weeks do it in writing in a typed letter, Microsoft has some great templates on their website, and not just by word.

They actually been trying to offer me a position, but another company just have a 8 days offer... the problem is I am going to be off for a week and a half the coming week. I guess a 2 weeks notice won't count the days off right?

    Classic!

One thing I've learned is to never burn your bridges. You never know when they may want you back and what they'll do to get you. Type up the letter and give a 2 week notice. Tell them you appreciate what they've done and the oppurtunities they have provided. If it comes to it, tell them you've received another offer and would love to stay, but they are not offering enough. It's worked for me in the past, though I still left after the offers I received.

Man every time I hear someone talking about a temp I think of that Office episode. Michael walks in and throws his coat to Brian.."here temp take my coat." Then walks off. I laughed for days.......

If I tell them today my last day at work is May 9th, would that be enough? Take in mind that I will miss 7 workdays between now and may 9th.
