Is this not a quality thread? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=250010 3 people gave feedback on those posts. For real? Don't rep me because I asked for it, rep me because it's one of the better threads in the last few months! or just don't rep me. At least read/discuss something? Do I need to re-write it more succinctly? /fakemeltdown
I've also written very lengthy posts in the past which got few responses, but I don't think any of them were as information dense as yours. You have my sympathy. High quality work. Probably it would have helped to have at the very top a list of the key points or findings. Grab the reader's interest first, and then delve into the details. Not that I follow this advice myself.
Thanks I appreciate the complement from a poster I hold in really high regard! You're right that the summary is a necessity for a forum post. Would definitely help the discussion to flow. Actually I went back to one of your old threads this weekend about predicting wins based on each teams top 12 player win share. You used the players WS ranking I think. We're pretty much on pace, though the distribution of win shares is a bit different. Would be cool to revisit it more comprehensively Edit: more than anything, it's good to know that the thought is at least being read.
Also knows what it feels like, I allready repped and commented on it, I have learnt if you don't have a question which is obvious like "should moreyball go" or "How far would we go if alderman was here" then your thread doesn't get many views/comments. That's why I have basically stopped doing analysis threads mid season and will just post them all post season when people actually appreacte them
I love when a thread like this pops and everyone b****es and complains at the end when they're negged or rooked for it. Jerk on fellas!!
Yeah I saw that - thanks. That's a true statement too. fwiw I went back and looked at your threads this weekend too e.g. limitations of moreyball (clutch performance), and Dwight v Omer rebounding. Enjoyed them for sure. Number threads & reporting threads are the best kind in the GARM imo. I hope they continue strong.
Unsorted is #4. I'd say solid posts count, but cheap and funny posts can get rep quicker. I just read it now. Pretty cool. Pretty cool.
I have posted nice quality posts on the texans forum, but since its not the popular opinion, I barely get rep.
It's hard to digest. Whats the key point of it? Maybe start with that, and then organize the data relevant to that point in a more succinct way. I haven't even read your thread - I opened took one look at the density of it, and figured I should go back to work. Getting rep for intelligent posting is hard. It's a slower way. Seems to me the easiest way is to put up cool or funny images, or have really awesome come back line.
This is a great idea. Not that posting solid threads mid season isn't a bad thing, but I like appreciation for a long thought out post like anyone else.
Understandable, and I'll write the summary up front next time (when I get time to look at our defense performance). Rep was obviously not the reason for the post, I felt Rockets fans would enjoy a review of our offense. But it's another feedback tool apart from comments/discussion.
