How to distribute the minutes for the rest of the season?

    My suggestion:

    PG: Francis (38), Norris (10)
    SG: Mobley (38), Posey (10)
SF: Rice (24), Posey (14), Nachbar or Morris (10)
    PF: Griffin (28), Taylor (20)
    C: Yao Ming (36), Cato (12)

Over the course of this and the next season, I would like to see Nachbar get more playing time and take some of Rice's minutes (this might happen anyway due to injury), if Nachbar proves worthy - I hope so.

Cato has shown that he can be effective in and satisfied with limited minutes and he might get more if Yao gets in early foul trouble (which will probably happen sometimes).

Hawkins, Collier, Maddox and Mickeal should either be on the IR or get garbage minutes. But I hope they will be solid replacements in case of injuries. Hawkins would be the first guy to go to in that case, I think he has proven that you can put him right in there.

Now that we got Posey, I am not sure about Mickeal. Perhaps we should rather get some veteran shooter like Dell Curry or veteran big guy like Chucky Brown for the minimum instead. But I would like to see a bit of Mickeal first.

How do you think the minutes should be distributed and would you agree that we do not need to make any major roster moves in the near future?

Although I think we can improve, I don't think there are any GOOD trades out there for us.

As for the minutes, I pretty much agree, except I'd split Mo and Griffin's minutes exactly equally. Then, tell them that, whoever plays better in one game, takes 3 minutes from the other player in the next game. Then they can have some friendly competition and good motivation.

Oh, and I don't think Francis will EVER play 38 minutes. It looks like Mooch is doomed, and so is Boki. T-Mo will never play before Posey or Rice (because Posey does what we want T-Mo to do), so give Boki a chance. With his shooting ability, he has a better chance to take some minutes from Rice, than T-Mo has of taking from Posey.

Maybe we should package Moochie and T-Mo for a Top 12 protected future first rounder?

    Looks good.

Maybe give Cato more like 15-16 minutes.

After a few games, I'd like to think the difference b/t Posey's and Mobley's minutes wouldn't be so much 38-24.
Maybe cut Mobley down to 32 and give Posey close to 30 minutes.

I would also limit Mo T to 15 min. a game until he starts to play better. Also, I'm not so sure we won't swap Morris for a PF. It seems strange to have Mo T as the only backup PF on the team knowing his injury was so serious and he has yet to prove himself in his return. Maybe Collier is our backup PF:confused: . My guess is Hawkins, Nachbar and Morris won't ALL be backing up Mobley/Rice/Posey.

The beauty of our deep and talented roster is that whoever has the hot hand gets the minutes. The Rockets are a good team. They could realistically win the whole thing THIS year.

Give Nachbar the minutes over Morris. Morris isn't bad, he's just not good either.

And Poor Hawkins...guy beats out two incumbents to make the team and now he's the odd man out. We should just release him and allow him to show his stuff for another NBA team.

I don't think so...it's great to have him if someone else gets injured or does not perform. From everything he said, he also seems to be a good guy for chemistry. Plus, we could probably keep him for something near the minimum. Why would we let a find like that slip away.

We should try to cut down Yao's minute to about 30 a game
as much as we can. The poor guy has played too much BBall
with no breaks. He easily gets winded in the game. Have Cato play a little bit more is a great idea!!! It is good for Cato as well as to Yao.
