Don't you guys get furios seeing how CD and Rudy screwed up the future of this team with their dumb personel moves. I personally det mad when I see the free agents that are coming on the market after next season and knowing that we'll have our money tied into the deadly MoT/Mooch/Cato/Rice combo...
Just think about it: Duncan will be there (no way the Spurs will keep him, he is way tired of carrying the whole team on his back), J. Bender or J. O'Neal (there is no way the Pacers will afford both of them) and Brand (I bet the Clips will find a way to lose him) are all likely to be available.

Well here's what we can do to start fixing things: Trade Mo Taylor to Boston for Kenny Anderson. I think we have a chance the Celtics will bite on this one. taylor is a legit 6-9 and they need size and a third scorer. Their lineup will be:

    PG: Erick Strickland/Tony Delk
    SG: The Truth
    SF: Toan
    PF: MoT
    C: Battie/Potapenko

The deal works under the salary cap and Kenny Anderson's deal expires after next year.

So here is my master plan:

    1. Send Toronto's pick to Memphis
    2. Make the Kenny A for MoT trade
    3. Trade next year's (likely lottery) pick + Rice + Moochie + Cato to Denver for Juwan Howard. The Nuggets will likely bite, since it will give them another lottery pick in the LeBron James sweepstakes, plus Rice's salary will be coming off the books in another year, plus Moochie and Cato will be two servicable bodies on their roster which is something they need.

That should free up some cap space to go after a free agent stud.

    Think:

    PG: Francis
    SG: Cat
    (SF+ PF+ C): (Eddie Griffin + this year pick + Duncan/Brand/J.O'Neal/J. Bender)

That will be looking like a contender right away.

You've got to be kidding if you think Boston would do that. Rice comes off the books in 2003, the season you think he'll be tied up. Oh, and Denver wouldn't do that either.

I counter your trade with this:

Mooch + KT + #6 + #14 for Odom + Dooling (or late first rounder)

We can also trade all that to Chicago for Yao Ming, assuming they get the #1. Because Travis Best is gone, Crawford is young, and they need depth up front too.

I'd rather them than anyone here, but that's my two cents.

Why would Denver take on Rice when they are looking to be players in fagency? I doubt the pick next year will be lotto anyway, so that would make it even less attractive for the Nugs.

If the Rocks do happen to be high lotto again, then I Don't see why those free agents would want to come to a team that is such a loser. Hell I don't see why Francis would even want to stay.

    Dumb trade idea.

The deal is good for Denver, the question is will they realize it. Their only chance at rebuilding is through the draft and trades. No big name free agent will agree to play in Denver, even for all the money that Juwan Howards contarct will free up. Think about it: historically bad organization, no coach, no recent history of success, mostly white and racist population. Denver is probably behind Utah as a place to play. In the deal they will be getting another lottery pick (almost guaranteed, see below). So think about it, they get a high lottery pick this year and two lottery picks next year. The chances are they'll be able to pick up at least one superstar-level player with those. Then Cato and Moochie are somewhat solid support players, and with Rice's contract expiring on 04 they will be able to pursue another mid-level free agent.

The key here is that the Rockets pick next year is in the lottery, which is almost guaranteed. Think: Sac, LA, San Antonio, Dalas, Minesotta and Portland are locks for the playoffs next year as well. For the other two spots you'll have: Seattle (if they resign Rashard they'll be there), the Clippers (vastly improved next year with more experience and two more lottery picks), Memphis (with Gasol, Battier, Dickerson and this year's lotto pick they'll be looking good) Golden State (a competent coach like Van Gundy and maybe the top pick this year and they'll be a contender, they underachieved big time this year), and Phoenix (forget Penny, I'll take the Marburry/J. Johnson backcourt over Steve/Cat any day. Plus I'll take Shawn Marion over any of our forwards anyday) and Utah (habits don't die easy and they've been there for the last 986 years...)
Don't tell me that a healthy Taylor and healthy Rice will make the Rockets finish 1st or second among these teams. And don't give me that "we alsmost made last year" excuse. Since last year many teams improved significantly: the Clippers, the Sonics, The grizzlies... Plus we still had dream at 60% which was not bad.

Here's how it will all shape up:

    7. Seattle
    8. Clippers
    9. Utah
    10. Golden State
    11. Phoenix
    12. Rockets
    13. Memphis
    14. Denver

I'm getting a sick fascination out of this. I always wondered why fans of lottery teams are so weird, now that I can get a bird's eye look I can see why. Ridiculous trade rumors can drive any man to insanity! Interesting. . .

I don't understand why in the world Chicago would still draft Ming with the first pick. With Curry and Chandler?? They should take Jason Williams. He makes them an immediately better team, something Ming doesn't do with all their players in that position and his having to adjust to the American game.

On the other hand, I may just think this cause I'm still hoping the Rockets can move up into the top two.

oh please, if the Nugs thought that they wouldn't be players in fagency when Juwanas contract runs out then they wouldn't have made that trade with Dallas. Despite what you or others think about the attractiveness of Denver to free agents, Denver thinks that the money will sell itself, and it did the last time they were under the cap, when they ended up with McDyess and Van Exel.

Almost guaranteed lotto pick? I don't think so. The only reason they were this bad this year was injuries. Add a healthy Mo, Rice, Steve, high lotto pick, and a seasoned bulked up Griff, and Rudy coaching for his job. This team could definitely make some noise next season and make a helluva turnaround should the pieces fall together right. At worst, the Rocks might end up with a 11-13 pick. Wtf is a stupid 11-13 draft pick? You can color it up and say it's lotto, but unless its top 4 or 5(maybe less, depending on the draft depth) a pick in that range really aint worth eating up Cato's and Rice's contract when they could be priming to lure in a Franchise player instead.

I know this doesn't really relate, but if I'm the bulls and i have or somehow wind up with the pick after 4, i would go at cleveland or charlotte and say take this pick and give me davis or miller. You put Davis or Miller with Rose,Robinson,Curry, and Chandler and you have something to work with.

Lee-Why would Cle or Cha/NO do that? Cha must have Baron to be their star when they move to NO. Cle would be trading their best player, who is young, for a guy who will probably not be as good as Miller, and start over?

Cle will have a pretty good pick anyway, and they will probably draft someone who they can build around along with Miller.

KidRock- They have been bad mouthing Miller in Cleveland. They're for some reason says he puts up numbers but is not a leader. Davis has been mull about his future as a hornet. Do you remember the last time one of Charlotte stars wanted or deserved big money? He was traded to Miami for Glen Rice and his name is Mourning. The owners of Charlotte are pretty cheap and cleveland just don't want to ante up. It was just thinking. If a team winds up with a high pick, all possibilies must be explored. Just like if the Rockets somehow wind up with the number 1 pick. Why not go at SA and say give me Duncan for this pick and say Taylor? The only thing they can say is no. Remember we almost traded Dream for bender.

Crisco you are probably right about what Denver thinks but I can guarantee you that nobody of top 5 FA in 2003 will sign with Denver. They have a much worse image now than when NVE and Deke were signing. A lotto pick is a lotto pick, it gives you ping-pong balls and a shot at a decent player. Plus for a roster like Denver's, Cato and Moochie are actually decent players, and Rice will have only 1 year. They had to deal NVE and LaFraenz in any case, if they net from the deal another lotto pick, Cato and Mooch that's not so bad, but again, you are right they'll likely be making a run at FAs in 2003 which will be a mistake.
