I've got a fitted nike hat that I want to clean, but am unsure how to go about it. It is 65% acrylic and 35% wool. I've heard about putting it in the dishwasher or even the washing machine. Any of you have any experience with washing hats?

The dishwasher works great, but the hat will shrink. Your best bet is just scrubbing it with a wet rag.

hmm... washer works fine... i've washed my lucky hat like many times and it's all worn and faded and it's got that you know old hat character, like a tear across the bill you know? like crazy gap and abercrombie sells hats that has like purposeful tears to go for that old look.

anyway... hat wash in washer is fine... it WILL shrink though, it actually shrinks every time i wash it. but mine is a fitted hat... it's loose on my head for a day afterwards but then it just stretches back out. i imagine it's the same for an adjustable.

I just buy a new hat.

I actually had one of my new cats use one of my oldest caps as a toilet the other day. I guess she was trying to tell me it was time to change the litter.

I didn't really wear the cap anymore anyway, but it still wasn't cool.

They actually sell frames where you can put your baseball caps in so that they don't lose their shape or anything in the dishwasher. They probably have them at Wal-Mart or Academy or something if you just ask.
