In case anybody was interested ...

Overwhelmed by fluid, fast-paced play, basketball fans have long thirsted for more: more statistics, more video replays, more analysis, more information. Now the NBA has partnered with SAP and STATS LLC to create a new, totally comprehensive statistical database that records everything that happens in every NBA game. And it’s free for fans all over the world at NBA.com/STATS on Monday, November 25.

    Video box score? Whoa!

When I can click on any stat in a box score (FG, FGA, TO, OREB, BLK, etc) and see a sliced video of every occurrence of that stat for a player in a game, just wow! Ditto for a player's season stats (or selected subset of games) and teams stats. Adding contextual box score stats like PUS (Pull-up), CAS (Catch-and-shoot), Drives, REB chances, etc will take it way over the top.

This can be awesome for fans! All of this available within an hour after a game! For free! This will help liberate NBA fans from being so dependent on ESPN's biased highlights.

One thing that would concern me if I'm the NBA: If video box scores turn out to be a huge hit, would some fans watch less live action on TV? Or would it stimulate more interest in watching live?

Will GMs like Morey who are ahead of the pack using advanced stats lose some of their advantage?

When looking at league leaders using this more in-depth analysis than the usual PTS, REB, AST, BLK, STL, there was one player I was incredibly surprised to find in more than one category.

BOOGIE COUSINS! I can't believe this guy is rating top 5 in the league in playmaking and scoring. However, the primary stat for playmaking is usage rate, and for scoring, it's PTS per 100 possessions. So I guess I could see any #1 option of the lowly Kings with high usage rates.

The top list for playmaking reads more like a list of guys who are leaned on by their team wayyyy too much. Westbrook is the only one on a good team...
