...by lining his own pockets http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/rush_24_7_adopt_a_soldier.guest.html so he wants you to pay him $50 and he will CC: a soilder his hate-mail, er i mean his newsletter, how exactly does this help support the troops again? Instead of raising money for more body armor or to lobby Congress for stronger veterans' benefits, maybe even paying for the artificial limbs wounded soliders need, he wants to send them a newletter paid for by other people
I have no love for Rush's politics (though I do find his schitck entertaning), but I don't think there is anything terribly wrong with this. He is running a business. If people want to buy his product and give it as gifts to others, more power to them. Of course, he can't help but take a dig at the Libs while promoting himself:
If he was marketing this as a gift idea, then sure, I don't have a problem with it, but he isn't It is the marketing direction of this that is disgusting to me
Well, I personally think a better marketing plan would be if he gave away his stuff for free. Great PR and it doesn't really cost him that much, since I doubt that many people will pony up the money to purchase these gift subscriptions.
Yup. He obviously has a fan base. And if someone who is getting shot at all day wants to listen to his stuff, that's fine by me. Of course, I'll bet they'd prefer this instead (NSFW).
Hey, Kerry and company were the ones who voted against the money to support the troops with armor/equipment. Nice work after you voted for the war, Johnnie. Maybe that had something to do with you losing the election. Oops!

He voted for it. The GOP led Senate voted down the fiscally responsible version that would say how it would be paid for. Various Senate Dems signalled that if the GOP would refuse to account for the expense they would register protest votes against a fiscally irresponsible bill even while they knew it would pass. It was a brave vote (one of few from Kerry during the Iraq debacle) followed by a stupid soundbite statement. And technically nobody voted "for" the war. As Byrd has rightly pointed out (here, as usual, you guys will dismiss the entire post based on Byrd's past, ignoring the substance of his speech) the Senate shamefully abdicated their responsibility to hold a debate on the war. Kerry was one of many who voted to authorize the use of force after Bush said that would be the only hope of "keeping the peace." Upisdownism at its finest.
So Kerry is as weak a politician as Bush. I'll agree with you on that one. The last presidential election was a lose (Kerry) versus lose worse (Bush) situation.
An argumentum ad populum, in logic, is an argument that concludes a proposition to be true on the grounds that many or all people believe it; it alleges that "If many believe so, it is so." This is a logical fallacy because the argument is not valid in general. In ethics, this argument has the form "if many find it acceptable, it is acceptable." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_the_majority
Ok, right, so he did in fact vote against the final version. So he gambled and "hoped" that enough other people were going to vote for it to make sure our troops had equipment/armor. That's not a responsible gamble.
More lies. (Don't you ever get at least a little ashamed?) Everybody in the Senate knew exactly how the vote was going to go. Calling it a gamble is a lie. You know it and everybody here knows it. Who are you trying to fake out?
