We traded CC and picks for RoCo (terrible trade)

Traded RoCo for Ariza and 1st

then traded that 1st and Ariza for a 2nd round pick.

when the **** does the league step in? This is self sabotage to save money in obscene ways.

    this isn’t even basketball anymore

The original trade was Capela for a first and that's basically where it still stands.

Capela + a first (#22 this year) equaled Roco
Roco equaled two firsts (#16 this year and lottery protected next year) and Ariza
Ariza and a first (#16 this year) equaled a future first (we don't know protections)

If the protections aren't very stiff on the pick we'll likely have traded Capela and #22 this year for picks that are like #10 and #18 next year. You also have to look at whoever we get with MLE (huge if) as part of what we got by trading Capela.

    Lots of corrections here:

They traded Capela and ONE pick for Covington.

They got TWO firsts and Ariza for Covington.

They traded Ariza and #16 for protected future first.

Top 16 protected next 4 years. Top 10 after that until it’s a second. Nice thought though.

This is a lot of bad information. I like this move, pending the offseason move. Let me break it down for people.

Pre-trade, we had Ariza (35, likely low value), whoever we drafted #16 in a historically weak draft, and the T-MLE at only $5.7M

Post trade, we have a future first (which will LIKELY convey as a first at some point, though admittedly not soon. Still, this draft is incredibly weak). PLUS, we now have the NT-MLE at $9.8M, PLUS the ability to take on 12.8M in salary through a trade exception.

You want a splash like Ibaka signing with us? This trade is a key pre-cursor for that to be possible.

Ibaka will never sign here if he knows Harden won’t be around! Neither will any other free agents that want to win

I see where you’re coming from man but the track record of this team is to dump contract and not use the MLE. Agreed, with the flurry of info coming out I wasn’t a 100% on but I’m going with @BimaThug assessment and track record of this team. They know harden isn’t sticking ,they’re clearing the payroll

Okay. Could take a while for that one to convey then if that's the case. I was assuming it was probably top 6ish protected.

I guess I'll see if/what we do with the MLE, but doesn't look great now.

Do you see the pistons making the playoffs any time soon?

No way Ibaka signs here. He can get the same amount of money from Lakers without this BS and with better shot at winning.

Maybe they can use part of it on a shump like player and tilman can say he tried

That's great and all but no one we're getting with MLE will be better than RoCo.

RoCo is a top tier role player in this league, Ibaka is not better than Roco if you've watched him play at all last year.

All this talk about the MLE but we gave up RoCo so at best its a wash and that's assuming we sign a good player lmao.

Tillman is blatantly cutting costs. This is the most disgusting thing I've ever witnessed.

We were stuck financially for years to come and the Rockets are finding ways to open that up. If they can move Gordon, then it will help more to chase another star

We are edging toward Stepien levels of incompetence that the league needs to create new rules to prevent self harm.
