How often do you surf the internet at work?

7 out of my 8 work hours belong to the internet. my boss doesn't care. he does it too. now my boss's boss is a different story.

 

i literally spend about 6 of my 8 hours online.

i'm not complaining.

 

i havent graduated yet, so the professional life sure does look easy

cant wait

 

Yeah, an easier question would be "when am I NOT on the internet at work".

 

As long as I get my work done in a timely and accurate fashion, they don't care.

 

It used to bother me a lot that I was spending time on the net. Hell, for the first year of my current job, I wasn't EVEN logging onto the Internet. So most days, when I didn't have anything pressing, it was reading boring books related to my industry or trying to learn more about excel. Then I noticed that other people at my job were reading stuff on the Internet, so I was like oh well I guess it is okay.

Now we have a policy against it but it is one of those things where pretty much everyone gets on - but some stay on longer than others. My job is pretty unique in that I work specific projects and jobs and when I am not doing those, I am in a support position. Yet, my boss never really utilizes my support much. So, I sit here with nothing to do for most days. It does get old, believe it or not, but I guess I should enjoy while it lasts. Because one day I will have a job where I'll be working as soon as I get into the office all the way up to quitting time. It just hasn't happened yet, obviously.

Same here...would go crazy if I didn't have access to it.

At home, I'm only on for like 30 mins to an hour at most

 

Me too to both of these.

 

I'm in tech support, so I'm on the internet all day. As long as I'm doing my job, they don't care how much I do it. Of course, they have filters in place to block access to a certain number of sites, so there are some restrictions.

I also listen to Yahoo Launchcast all day. If I didn't, the silence would drive me insane.

 

Working in web development has it's privelages.

 

pretty much a good portion of the day is spent ont he internet but my company does filter a few sites so i cant waste as much time on it as i would like

luckily for me the bbs isnt blocked otherwise i'd go crazy

 

I pretty much can surf whenever and for whatever I want.

I cruise the web all day, everyday... I'd say during any given week I only do about 15 actual minutes of work Bob.

 

That would be bad if I wasn't the one in charge of everything.

 

nearly every 15mins, but somehow i don´t visit clutchfans or other message boards....
