Look at the Thunder, they don't even have to trade for another star. They drafted two max players and are set for the next decade. Amazing drafting by Sam Presti.

I believe only the Spurs have done this?

Well, the Rockets did it back in the day with Sampson and Olajuwon. Of course, Sampson had a pretty short career, but for a minute it really looked like they were going to be set up for the long haul.

If Oden were healthy, then they would have had a sick series of drafts.

    06: Roy, Aldridge
    07: Oden, Rudy
    08: Batum

Portland has had interesting drafting. They drafted really really well lately but the biggest draft decision they made they messed up. This is a very very good side already but won't win a championship.... but imagine if they went Durant, that team would be real real good. The same could of been said with Pistons Darko/Carmelo/Wade/Bosh blunder.

Yeah i agree. But stealing roy and getting aldridge was huge. I think it saved the Franchise

As far as Oden goes, it was not a bad choice. I mean good big men these days were hard to come by. Not a lot of people could predict Oden's injuries and Durant's rise to super stardom

I think a lot of times it's hard to make these who to pick first who to pick second decisions. I remember there was also a lot of debate and uncertainty with whether to pick rose or beasley, but bulls luckily made the right choice

Notice to Portland, size doesn't matter. So what Durant can't bench press more than 150? I bet you wish you could get that pick back now...

    Durant aint no small Joe.

He is legit 6'10. He's about the same size as Amare, Bosh, Duncan, Randolph and bigger than guys like Scola, Lee, Landry and some others.

    He could play all positions!

How far back are you talking about? I mean, the 90s Bulls are an obvious answer.

If they had drafted Jordan instead of Bowie or Durant instead of Oden, that would be a godly franchise.

I can't believe they had the chance to draft two top tier Hall of Fame guys.

    What about Francis/Yao!! :)

    Aside from those already mentioned:

    Stockton/Malone

Payton/Kemp (means OKC/Seattle have done it twice)

    Shaq/Penny

I'll probably be flamed for saying this:
    Carter/McGrady

    Deron/Boozer (twice for Utah)

King's fans will soon argue that Evans/Cousins should be in the discussion.

    Boozer wasn't drafted by Utah.

Wow. Durant is already a top tier Hall of Fame guy? Exactly what has he accomplished that T-Mac had not accomplished by approximately the same age? Would you consider T-Mac a top tier Hall of Famer?

I'm not saying Durant will end up like T-Mac. I'm just saying that it's way too early to declare him a surefire HOF player. It is obvious by now, though, that the Blazers made the wrong choice in taking Oden.

In that sense, they didn't draft Roy, Aldridge, or Rudy either.

    And LA didn't draft Kobe.

Spurs didn't draft 2 max players and were set for the next decade. DRobinson retired only a few years after Duncan was drafted.

They picked up Ginobili and Parker, but neither one of them are max or top 10 player.

I can't remember any team drafting 2 franchise players close to each other in the last 10-15 years. The championships have been dominated by Lakers and Spurs.

I forgot all about Boozer and LeBron.

You could definitely count Cleveland as one of those teams.
