If Nuggets are going to look to get value back, I don't think there is a team with more expiring contracts + assets than the Rockets.

I personally would give up basically anything that's not Yao Ming and even I'm willing to take back horrible contracts. I'd basically want Melo over any other possible player we could get (aka CP3, or other possible disgruntled players, I'm ASSUMING players like LBJ, wade, Kobe are not going to be disgruntled so they are off the list).

That being said I guess I'll make a poll and I'm assuming a whole lot of people are going to say oh no please not Brooks, so I'll add that option even though I don't think there is a chance in hell we get Melo w/out giving up Brooks.

My guess would be something like this:
    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=296m8zp

Taking back Birdman as he is their worst contract, and Melo, giving up expirings, brooks, bud, battier + any picks they would want.

What would you guys be willing to give up?

Rofl like this would happen, I forgot Martin in poll, but I highly doubt they would want his contract if they are rebuilding (which they are if Melo is gone).

Depends if he's going to sign an extension with us or not. If not then I'd give one of our first round picks, our picks and not the Knicks pick. If he would sign an extension then you'd throw just about everything in a deal for him. He's talented enough to be the best player on a championship team and not many teams have a player like that.

Jesus... I can't believe you have freaking Budinger on that list with Yao and Aaron Brooks...

I like Budinger, but come on, Carmelo would be a better player If his right arm was chopped off...

You know I added it for all the Clutchfaner who love him.

I agree with your statement, but honestly, people on here think Brooks is a top 5 PG and Bud is gonna be a superstar. Those are the two most overvalued players on this site.

Brooks IMO is a top 15 PG at best, and Bud has proven nothing as of now, but that's just my opinion and a lot of CFers won't agree with either of these statements.

So who exactly would we give up that Nuggets would want?

Please also explain to me how it would be a reasonable trade for the Nuggets.

Of course they would want Martin. He has a fair contract and they would still be a playoff team with him and the rest of their team.

    Things Denver could want:
    talent under contract
    picks
    unloading bad contracts
    draft picks

    Things Denver doesn't want:
expiring contracts (that means Yao, Brooks)
    projects
    questionable talent

That pretty much leaves us with Scola, Martin, Budinger, Lowry and draft picks as trade bait for Denver. We might also take a bad contract off their hands for an expiring or some other minor piece.

carmelo won't sign an extension so things like Draft picks, HILL, JT, Lee, battier, jefferies wouldn't be bad assests for the thugets.

i really don't know what to say but brooks and bud aren't overrated, they are underappreciated...you would know that if you call yourself a rockets fan...plain and simple they are what you have to look forward to when ming and scola gone.

None of the starting five except Battier.

Anything else (within reason, can't explode the entire bench), okay.

This. That Nuggets team is stacked with Melo, Billups, Lawson, Nene, Smith etc. Melo teh "superstar" can only go so far as the WCF and got pwned by the Lakers. You think Yao Ming alone is better than the rest of the Nuggets' roster? Why will we mortgage all of our available talent for someone who couldn't do anything on a stacked team?

I'd give up C-bud, Lowry, Jeffries, Patterson and Hill. I won't give up any of our starting 5 or the NY picks.

Any team that trades for Melo is going to need his consent to sign an extension. Without a contract extension nobody is going to give up serious assets to acquire him. Basically that means either he goes where he wants now or he will go where he wants next year.
To answer OP's question, since Houston is not one of Melo's desired places, the most I would give up for 1 year rental of unhappy Melo is Hill and maybe Budinger.
