Looking at this auction on ebay got me thinking how much this site would fetch.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1558263239

Its a Lord of the Rings fan site. Currently at almost $1,600. Doesn't even have 1/4 the traffic this side does and I'm guessing its no where close popularity wise.

Wait until at least Rockets win another ring, that's all I can suggest

I think that the guy is getting so much money for it because he says it brings in a revenue of $100 a week, but he doesn't have the time to run it. That's a pretty decent investment if your a big Lord of the Rings fan.

The thing with this site, is i don't think it makes a lot of money (i could be wrong), i think Clutch simply does it because of his love of the Rockets.

I sure hope this place doesn't get sold...Clutch is too great of a main man.

It would fetch a stiff letter from the powers that be in the NBA.

That's kind of too long. Maybe when Yao becomes an all star with 5 million Chinese and Asian fans onboard. :D

www.lifehouse.com, a church's old website, has been "appraised" at between $30,000 and $50,000 - never mind that the band of the same name already has a website. Supposedly, it's being sold to fund youth ministry training in the Ukraine.

If that domain could fetch that much...this one could fetch close to that amount, NBA lawyers not withstanding. Too many legal problems to even think about such a thing.

I'm sure the Rockets would be interested in the BBS portion of the website.

Can you imagine if Rockets.com moderated the board? You call Cato out and you get banned :D

He has said repeatedly that he doesn't. As a matter of fact, until he started the tip jar very recently he was paying for it completely out of pocket.

Thing is, I doubt the NAME (clutchcity.net) is all that valuable. However, the SITE is extremely valuable. There is a difference. If you just are selling off the name, no one would care all that much other than the traffic built into it because of its reputation (that won't last long though unless the site is maintained). But, the information, the community and the whole enchilada is probably worth a lot.

I know that, to Clutch and most of us here, it's priceless. :D

A few beers with some buddies at the sports bar, $15. Upper deck tickets at the Rockets games, $20. Visiting ClutchCity.net, priceless...

LOL...you beat me to the punchline:D

btw, I HATE MasterCard. I think they're one of the seals spoken of in Revelations. You know, "Sun black as saccloth, Moon as blood, MasterCard as Dallas' biggest debt." I think it's chapter 6 verse 12.
