How Much Will Loss of Cato Effect Rock's Tough Interior D?

At the start of last season Cato became the starting PF by default with EG's release and Mo T's suspension and the team developed a newfound toughness with Yao/Cato clogging the paint and my question is will the level of tough D in the paint drop off significantly without Cato while MoT and Howard share time at the PF spot? The Rocks have now lost EG's shot blocking ability as well as Cato's so who is gonna be the interior presense that blocks and altars shots and can the team maintain the high level of defense that we had the pleasure of watching last year?

Will this trade see the defense regress without a big shot blocker down low in the paint? I like the trade but I'm wondering if the team can maintain the high level of D that shut so many teams down last year and almost set a record for holding teams to the lowest shooting percentage in NBA history.

Well they did give up an average of 9 or so MORE points per game while Cato was injured last season, the offseason is young though, we can still find a guy to help out in that department.

I believe the rockets are going to go out and get a weak side defender to help Yao out. They are not going to leave him in a position to get fouled out every game. There are some available hard nosed players out there that can provide the weakside defense we are looking for.

It's a question of whether we plan on sticking with Howard at the 4, or plan on getting a player who can double as a center and can block shots, like a Keon Clark or Stromile Swift. Either way, there won't be a lot of legit two-way PFs available.
