I got my last week in the mail thanks to e-filling. A check for $2110.00 and I spend a portion of it on a sony PSP and the rest to my savings. I thought about paying off my credit card with it, but thats no fun and I already have low interest rate on them.:)

I too will be writing a check to the IRS this year due to taking the money and running on some stock.

Oh well it was worth it...

Well, if I had been more organized this past year and paid estimated tax, I'd be getting money back too. :)

    Close to 2g's.

Some went to a trip to Florida, some went to a new, high performance engine.

Somehow it's looking like I owe the gubment more than 2 bills.

Anyone know the rule with Roth IRAs and how they negatively impact my tax return? Preferably the dummed down version?

I never understand the thrill of getting your own money back.

    Refund hoarders:

Q: So how does it feel to give the IRS an interest free loan out of your pocket?

    A: Pretty dang good.

    IRS owers:

    Q. So how does it feel to have paid the IRS less than what you actually owed them throughout the year and had that extra cash in your pocket?

    A: It sucks.

No wonder we're a nation of debtors.

The problem is... I already theoretically spent that money in my head. I had no idea I would owe anything.

I forgot that I won a few thousand on my last trip to the casinos in LA. I bought a nice new HDTV with that cash.

A ROTH will really not have any impact on your current return other then the fact that you do not get a current tax deduction for it. However, you are not going to owe tax on the earnings when you take it out in the future upon retirement. That being said, a ROTH is one of the best savings vehicles out there IMO. I would do a ROTH over a traditional IRA, you will come out better in the long run.

I got quite a bit back because I just had a baby and the gubment gives you a nice little break on that. All that money went to pay the ****ing doctors and hospital the cost of delivering that baby.
