I know that we are still considered a very young team. But my patience is get very restless. When I look at our team on paper. Stars: Yao Ming Steve Francis Role Players: Cat Pike Taylor Mark Jackson Jim Jackson Cato It just seems like we have so much talent. How much longer until this team takes off to the top. And Starts playing consistent basketball?
Don't ask me, you are the doctor of basketall. Btw, please update your signature ... it is pretty depressing to me.
basketball ... not basketall. Man I need to get a job so I can get some money to contribute to the tip jar so I can edit my messages. (How about my priorities?)
Based on his overall performance this year, you might as well add Francis to your list of role players. Therein lies the problem. Potential is flying in the wind, only performance matters.
Blech. My feelings exactly. Unless you're talking about Adrian Griffin. Then I'd just think you're crazy. Like the other Griffin.
I think the team has talent but not the talent that the other playoff teams in the West have except for Denver. Noone can honestly say that the Grizzlies are less talented than the Rockets. This is Jerry West we are talking about going against the prior regime's accumulation of talent.
Also, another thing is that the talent has to complement each other on the court rather than conflict with each other. Look at the Blazers. They have talent that is arguably the same as the Rockets, and they are putting on a win streak now. Maybe Rasheed Wallace, even though he is very talented, did not fit on that team anymore. The frontcourt of Randolph, Rahim, and Ratliff (the 3 Rs) is possibly the best frontcourt in the NBA.
The Rockets are NOT a young team. Let's be done with that excuse once and for all. They're not very talented either. After YM, SF, and CM, there's a huge drop off. Cato is a journeyman player (at best), and MT is erratic and undersized. It sucks to keep saying this, but the Rockets won't become real threats in the West (at least not without a lot of luck) for a couple of more years, when Cato's and MT's contracts come off the books. I call those guys anchors, because their contracts are pulling down the entire roster. What worries me is that after throwing all that money on Cato and Taylor, that once their contracts are gone, CD will turn right around and make the same mistake again! Raven
The IQs have to catch up to the talent. I am proud of this team. They have come a long way this year. We are one PF away!
Absolutely correct, and it's the number one priority in the off season. Any decent point guard will do (no need to waste SF on this type of player), but trading SF for a stud power forward makes the Rockets a top 5 team in the west, and maybe a top 4. Raven
Three things need to happen: 1) Stevie needs to become more efficient in scoring and running the floor: lower turnovers, more assists and more fastbreaks. 2) Either a stronger starting PF (not a star, but someone you can expect more out of nightly--Cato is 10/10 or 2/8...that will not cut it or we need a SF who can light it up more 3) Improve bench consistency... This year we have about 4-6 losses that would have been wins had any of the above been true...so I do not think all have to be achieved at once...for example: Had we had Stevie not in a shooting slump I firmly believe we would be 37-20 right now, which is 3rd/4th in the conference...does that excite anyone... I guess what i am saying is we are not far, just need some consistency and leadership then we can go from there..but this year a playoff appearance and decent showing is a must!
