We all know that Les Alexander is not afraid to make a move and even though the season isn’t half over it is evident that roster changes are needed. I used to wonder why the Rockets could not fill up the arena, now I know why after attending my first game of the season. I've enjoyed my NBALP just because I am not stuck watching poor basketball for 2 and 1/2 hours, but tonight I was stuck. Our "PG" was dribbling the ball of his foot. Our SG was doing his usual. Our SF continues his shooting "slump". Our "PF" was not playing his role. Our "C" took a grand total of 4 shots. I was a man without a remote. It's clear that the Rockets just don’t mix together. Our starting lineup consist of 2 players playing out of position. A trigger happy shooting guard. A journeymen at SF. And a Center who plays a foot shorter than he is. So how much longer until our owner gives the green light for a big move to occur? Is it after the Rockets get embarrassed on a national scene come Christmas night? When? Will this "team" be together come April? I don't see how. Will people actually pay to see this? It is simply bad business to have a product this poor to sell. You know its bad when half the arena bursts out laughing when the promotion of get a free big Mac if the rockets score 100 pts flashes on the board. Than they boo the team on and off the court. This is not going to work. When do you think the Rockets will realize this? No way will the Rockets ever pack the arena consistently while bringing in this disaster on the court night in and night out. The gentlemen next to me summed the Rockets up perfectly when he said " I can't believe they're getting paid to do this." What a shame
I attended the game tonight as well (my first time visiting the new Toyota Center). I liked the arena (except for the lack of legroom), but the product was terrible as it has been all season. There is absolutely zero chemistry on the offensive side of the ball, and it is pitiful to watch. I was just sitting in my seat disgusted with the horrible performance and thinking of last season's Pacers game where Yao went off for 29-10 and all seemed well in Rocketland. I think its blatantly obvious that JVG does not have the players to fit into his system, and the product proves it. The offensive sets are focused more on ball and player movement with precision passing. Problem is, this group of players has the mentality of being indecisive and a step behind as opposed to being able to make the crisp pass at the appropriate time. JVG spoke after the game about how the offense bogs down when the appropriate passes are not made at the appropriate time. The emphasis is to get the shot off the pass as opposed to off the dribble. JVG refuses to let the team back into its bad habits of dribbling for 15 seconds and jacking up a shot. Problem is, precision and timing is not in their mental makeup. The offensive strategy is fine, but JVG needs to acquire the appropriate players to execute it.
MManal, I agree. Van Gundy has only two options. He can: A) Change his system to fit the players OR B) Acquire the players that fit his system I personally like option B b/c I don't believe that the current group of players can thrive in any system. Rudy tried being "hands off" and the Rockets stuggled. Van Gundy is very "hands on" with his structured style, and the Rockets are still stuggling. A player change is needed...
before any major trade is made i think they will look to add the peices we need through FA's this summer. b.barry, c.ward, whoever is out there that can play PG.
i just hope they trade steve and not yao. Big men win championships not Points guards; and everyone knows steve francise aint no jordan. If they trade yao i will have to say this is the dumbest organizatoin ever.
If the Rockets Trade Yao Ming they will loose face. Unless Yao Ming asks for a Trade and thats a posiblilty as he looks depressed standing arround among our Streer Ballers. What a waste of talent.
Yao Ming is the ONLY untouchable player on the Rockets. Trading Yao over Steve is unfathomable. If the Rockets miss the playoff for the fifth consecutive year, which is likely to happen, Steve Francis will be in an Eastern Conference uniform for the start of the 04-05 season.
