About 45 more minutes and then you'll need another bong hit.

Seriously, I think it'll still be a LONG time until it's made legal, if ever. The stigma associated with it thanks to a ton of anti-mar1juana propaganda for over 70 years has influenced a lot of people. It takes generations to change something like that. There is no doubt that it is a drug that can influence lives in good and bad ways, but like so many other things, it's not being regulated the way it should.

I came across an interesting point in these debates. It'll be very difficult to determine the degree of liability in mar1juana related accidents. Unlike alcohol where a breathalizer or blood test can judge a person's immediate intoxication, THC can be stored in fat cells for over half a year. So if you had a car accident but lit up last week, the other side could make a claim that you were high at the time.

Furthermore, the workplace usually tests to see if you've ever used it recently not if you're using it now. Even if it were legalized, companies could be negligent for them to allow their workers to smoke up through implicit acceptance by not testing their workers.

Hopefully soon, I like to smoke a couple times a week, and moving from Montana to Texas has been uber dissapointing as there is no good weed in Houston or that I am able to find. The stuff down here is cheap but its crap.

It's still going to be a good while longer (20+ years). Yes, it's still completely amazing that people believe the "Refer Madness" propaganda. But there's enough of those people to scare politicians from getting behind the pro-legalization movement. There are so many reasons to do so, it's just plain silly that it remains illegal. Local restrictions are loosening all over the country. Did you know that they gave police the option of simply writing a ticket instead of jail in Texas (HB 2391) ? Still just the tip of the iceberg, but a nice start nonetheless in this state.

And we all know that Montana is known far and wide as a bastion of good pot.

Meanwhile, we just voted to build more prisons, and prison privitization is progressing right along despite the whole TYC mess.

It just seems like every tiny step forward accompanies a giant step in the other direction. The Drug War makes worse nearly every criminal justice problem and is the primary cause of many of them. It's amazing that most people don't realize how much money is coming out of their pockets to prop up a strategy that has been an unwavering failure for the better part of a century.

Actually, there are both breath and blood tests that test the active levels of THC in the body. It is possible to measure mar1juana intoxication as opposed to the plain exposure that urinalysis tests.

Only if those workers use or operate heavy machinery, vehicles, or in some other way have safety issues attached to their jobs. At any rate, there is plenty of evidence that shows that drug users do not have higher rates of accidents or problems at work than people who drink. Companies would not be any more liable for a drug using employee than for one who drinks on the job.
