What's your price per KWH? Central heat? Old building or new? Those little space heaters can suck up to 1800 watts an hour, and if you're in an old apt, chances are some of that air is slipping out of old windows and door seams.

Around $100.00, which is around 1/5 of what it is during the summer.

    Gas heated house.

Top it all off I've got to pay my property tax this month. Eff me.

Is it possible to dispute bills and get it lowered?

Mine was $1,100 this month, but then again, I own a 150 acre ranch North of Houston. The House is a 8,700 square foot home, so the bills run high year round. I have Stream Energy. They had the cheapest kw, when I did some searching last year.

That's pretty cheap. Complain to your apt manager/landlord.

$96.00 last month but it was a smaller place and I just moved on the 31st into a 1,400 square foot Condo now that I rid myself of the lady demon. I was hoping for one of those "lucky" $50.00 bills, but this has been one weird Winter for Houston. I usually never run the heat.

Edit- I'm with Gexa @ 9.98 kwh, signed in for another 16 months.

That's a very low rate. I was paying 14.1/kwh this past year, but just got lowered to 11.7 starting this month. My electric bill runs anywhere from 30 to 80 dollars depending on the season, but I'm a single guy with a very small apartment (650 sq feet or so).

    $50. 2700 sq. ft.

$196 gas bill though - and we've had a recent 4 days straight below 32 for 24 hours a day... *gulp*

$90 - 1600 sq. ft house, lots of trees surrounding it (never had an electric bill over $150)

Gas bill, however, jumped from an average of $30 to $90 for last month. That was expected considering the heater is gas powered.

The other question is: what do you keep your thermostat set on?

Ours is 77. Not looking forward to bill.
