darl has inspired me to seriously thinking about becoming a GM, so i was wondering what kind background a GM needs and how much education and experiences is required

Well, good luck on becoming a GM. I hope you can become Utah's GM and trade boozer for 2nd round pick (like Camby). :D

Look Costanza if you have a chance of becoming a GM you'd already know how much they make.

they make about 20-100k, obviously depending on the teams market.

its a lotta work for a little money so i say id rather be a prostitute than an nba general manager.

i keed but i dunno. someone should tho, i wanna know too.

Judging from your grammar and how you spelled our GM's name, I wouldn't be surprised if you got us Jon Barry while trading for Brent.

Dont be a GM unless you are given a offer by 7 playoff contending teams, make some nice trades that help the Rockets, **** pull a Chris Wallace give us the team's best player and we'll give you expirings.

What is with the flood of bad grammar on this site? All of the threads titles are like "Does you think Yao full health Artest?". Then it asks some ridiculous question.

    Connections

    Connections

And probably the most important of them all:

    Connections

How you make them, that's the challenge

Probably a little less than the coach. Morey is a MIT graduate, do you think he would just take a 20-100k salary? Even if it is being a GM, he's smart enough to do something else with his degree. I pretty sure most GMs make several million a year.

It's all about connections.... but if you are serious about there's a couple things you should do.

    1. Go to division 1 university, and work on the staff as a student during your undergrad

    2. During the summers after you sophmore year get internships with professional teams in your market area

    3. The most important is have a mentor someone who is already in the game that can help you out, and knows the scene a little bit

    4. It really doesn't matter what you major, but you ahve to make good grades bc this is a competitive market

    I hope this helps

For some reason, this thread reminds me of the "My co-worker is a pimp" thread.
