My wife and I were looking at buying a house and had two questions:

    1. I have no idea how much insurance runs. How much are you paying?

    2. The house we are looking at has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths on 2 stories. The catch is that both bathrooms are upstairs, so there is no powder room available downstairs. Do you find this strange? Could you live in that house or would it stop you from buying it?

Thanks for your advice and ideas.

In Texas, it's a b****. An average of twice as much as any other state and as much as FOUR TIMES AS MUCH as other states. We pay about $1500 on our home and it is valued at between $150K and $190K or therabouts.

I don't find anything strange when it comes to houses anymore. :)

It might be a little inconvenient for people who come over but remember that you can always add a 1/2 bath somewhere downstairs. The great thing about homes is that you can remodel them if necessary. :)

    1. Our farkin' insurance just went up (as did everyone else's) we pay close to $1900/yr. We have a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath in the Heights. You gotta remember this is added in to your mortgage, so your monthly payment will include insurance.

    2. I do find it strange, but like Jeff said, you can always add something later. If you are not in a hurry, I would keep looking until you find a house that you like with a downstairs bathroom. I mean, I wouldn't want to have to climb the stairs everytime you have to go.
