There are two types of guards in the league. There are shooting guards and point guards. And there is a reason for it... can anyone of you guess?

(obviously if a PG is shooting lights out he can do what ever he wants)

The better pull should be how much it counts when the entire team scores 30 in a quarter vs. 20 in a quarter.

PGs should shoot, only when there is no better option available. Steve Nash is a great shooter, but he doesn't shoot the ball often at the beginning of the game unless it's absolutely necessary. That's the way to get his teammates into a rhythm early, the way to give his team the best chance to win, and that makes him the best pg in the game today.

I'm more concerned with TOs and the score of the game.

2 points is 2 points no matter who scores it (except when it is Novak or Francis and then the moral victory aspect makes 2 points equal to 7 or 8)

just admit it;; MJ's 7-17 shooting with zero assists was not justified, even if Yao and T-mac had off nights.

When everyone else on the team can't hit the broad side of a barn how do you expect him to get assists?

It isn't like the guy habitually fails to put up decent assist numbers. He shoots a good percentage and still finds the open man. Seems good enough for me.

The point guard's job is not to pass the ball, but to set up an offense and pick the highest percent completion play. For Nash, it would be to pass for an assist. For Arenas, it is often the best decision for him to shoot. I would say Mike James would be a poor point guard if he was working for tough shots when easier shots were available elsewhere. Face it, nobody was shooting that well tonight.

this is a stupid thread. I don't know why you had to make a new thread just to show your point. but hell, what do I know, you've earned the right I guess.

mike james and rafer both offer different looks. and yeah james is better off the bench.
