The county/city I live in just recently began allowing gas stations and Wal-Mart to start selling beer. Wal-Mart has come in with a decent selection of beer and prices much lower than the typical liquor store. Even the gas stations will run occasional specials on the macrobrews like Bud/Miller/Coors.

As a result, I've noticed the average price of a case of Bud/Miller/Coors has dropped significantly at most of the liquor stores around town. Prior to Wal-Mart's arrival on the scene, the typical liquor store price seemed to be around 18.99 for a 24 pack of Bud/Miller/Coors in cans or 20 pack in bottles. Wal-Mart priced their cases at 16.47, and I've seen a lot of liquor stores dropping their price to $16.99. Wal-Mart also has much better prices on stuff like Fat Tire, Red Stripe, Sam Adams, and so on, but I haven't noticed much difference in the prices of the microbrews/imports at liquor stores.

So, my question for you guys is: what beer(s) do you typically buy, in what quantity (tall boy, 6/12/24/30 pack, etc), in what type of container (keg/bottle/can, etc), at what type of store, and how much do you pay?

I typically buy a 6 pack of bottles of Miller Light, which costs $5.47 plus tax at a local liquor store. If I want to go cheap, 12 pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon cans for $8.62+tax. My favorite import is Dos Equis Amber, which I think I pay around $8+tax for a six pack of bottles.

Usually $7-$9 for a six pack...Spec's is usually the cheapest

    American Girl-beer is usually 8 or 9 bucks for a 12 pack, I think

The gas stations in Austin and Houston started selling a 6-pack of Budweiser tall boys for the same price as the 12 oz cans...6.99. :)

    I usually drink Zeigenbock: 7.99 6 pack and 11.99 12 pack.

Damn, I miss being able to buy Shiner in bulk up here in Seattle. I can pick up a 6 pack for 8.99, so I don't drink it too often. Usually just when we're making Tex Mex at home.

We usually drink Heineken, which we pick up for about $21 for a 24 case at Costco.

    Repped.

And Blake, I really think we would get along great in the real world. Not only are you a huge Radiohead fan like me, you are a fan of Bill Brasky. What more is there to life? ;)

    Harrisment, Bill Brasky and I?

The character of Johnny Appleseed was based on Brasky - except for the apple tree planting and not raping men.

Bill Brasky once showed me a video of him making love to my wife, and it was the most beautiful thing I ever saw!
