I turned 21 within the past month and I can't stop drinking...literallly. I justed wanted to know whats a popular drinks among Clutchcity members and how often do u guys pounds brews. I like Vodka Tonics. I can drink beer all night. I like Sam Adams and Shiner Bock. I love dark beers and I love light liqour. What are your favorrite drinks? and how often do you go out with the guys and hit the bars?
Used to drink on weekends at college till I graduated in May. Started off with liquor (Vodka shots) then got sick of it. I can barely take a whiff of the stuff now. As a true collegian, I consumed many a 'Stone. How much? I've estimated that a typical "good" drinking night would take 16-19 12 oz. beers. At a party?--God only knows. My Irish Liver cries, "Bring it on!"
I don't drink alcohol. Can't stand the stuff. I have no clue what the love for beer is all about. I tried 3 or 4 different kinds of beer in the past (just sips) and nearly barfed at the taste. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks I suppose.
I agree. I've been drunk once, and hated the experience. I don't like the taste of alcohol, though. I really don't understand it at all. It's a bit annoying as whenever we go out to have a casual pint, people always look at me funny when I order a coke. I simply don't enjoy drinking beer. Doesn't taste good to me. Yet I maintain that Heineken is the best beer about simply because it's Dutch and they have some awesome football commercials.
don't drink prefer not to, although I have in the past, but never been a serious drinker it's very little upside and lots of downside
here's my kinda topic....... been a pretty heavy drinker for 5 years now. being 21 for almost a year hasn't helped either. i've been on a binge since i got back to san marcos about 4 weeks ago. i'd say i've gotten drunk in all but 5 nights. especially this past week since most kids just got back in town and rush has just started. my liver's been hating me. healthy mix of liquor and beer. recently, it's been taking longer and longer to get wasted off just beer. but this is my 2nd straight night w/o boozing... i need a break, but it won't last past thursday.
you can be a binger in college and practically a teetotaler after age 40. a lot of that is age, peer group, and things that are transient. but it's not good to get hammered every day EVER. if you're gonna binge drink, try to limit it and yourself. don't drink on an empty stomach or when driving. Don't drink most of the week. alcoholic is a word easily tossed around. the point is not the word, but the fact of you worrying about drinking too much. if you are worried about drinking too much, you probably are in need of curtailing your excess.
The problem with most binge drinkers is that they can't control it. Personally, I don't touch the stuff, and don't plan on it when I turn 21.
I drank for about 4 months after I turned 21 (9 yrs. ago)... since then I haven't touched the stuff. I'm a big guy, and it takes a gallon of strong stuff to get me buzzed, and well, it took a lot of money to do that. So aside from the obvious damage to my liver that would have certainly ensued, I was broke quicker and more often, and alcohol didn't seem to make my partying days "better" by any means, so I quit it all then in '94 (right before the Rockets won it all). And I don't regret not needing the "crooked 'I' juice to get loose" at all. I like knowing my chances are better getting home after a game or party because I haven't consumed alcohol. Of course, now I am thouroughly convinced that my religious convictions have since helped keep me off the stuff... but honestly I was off the stuff well before I got serious about my spiritual life. Having a wife and kids (especially the kids ) helps keep me sober, too. Although I'm sure some would give those same reasons for drinking in the first place. Whatever you choose, be careful.
Alcohol isn't particularly my bag, but it's legal and everybody I know drinks, so I've become a bit more than a social drinker. Living in Austin will shove beer in your face everyday if you and/or your peers are in their twenties. I don't really like the taste of beer, but I've grown accustomed to it. For the same reason, my favorite beer is Dos XX because it has the perfect complimentary flavor for lime juice; and lots of lime juice makes beer taste less like beer, so I'm happy. But on the 'how often' tip, I usually get 5hitfaced at least 2 nights a week, but always as a direct result of peer pressure. PS- I am a smoker at heart, and alcohol is just a substitute for my general addictive tendencies.
Don't drink too much, but my favorite is JB and Coke. Love the stuff. At home I usually have a special bottle of Johnny Walker which I mix with Coke when I feel like it. Wine is pretty good, with the right meal (a nice red from the Barossa Valley goes down pretty well, eh Smeg? ). Not much of a beer drinker (SHOCK HORROR!! )
I drink every Friday night. Guinness beer is my favorite, I love the stuff. I'm going to start building my own bar on my back patio today in fact. It's getting harder for me to drink on Sat if I drink on Fri, but somehow I usually pull it off. I only drink during the week on special occaisions. To me it's just having fun.
I drink a lot. I work, therefore I drink. Buck Turgidson is a witness! I will drink anything except for gin and tequila (except for the occasional margarita while out eating TexMex). I love beer. Usually Miller Lite or Michelob Ultra, but I do go on an imported beer kick now and again. I love St. Arnold's Lawnmower and Shiner Hefeweizen. Favorites: Vodka martini (dirty with lots of olives...the olives are usually dinner) Crown Royal and Diet Coke George Dickel and Diet Coke Screwdrivers Vodka and Tonic Wines: Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio
I enjoy a cocktail on the weekend, usually Tangerauy and Tonic with a lime. If I drink a beer it`s usually Michelob Ultra.
