I pay mine in 6 month premiums, so I don't really pay attention, but I got my statement the other day and discovered I'm paying $125/month. Not too bad, until you take into account the fact that I drive a 96 Blazer.

That seems pretty high. I have one ticket on my record, but it still seems pretty high. I've never been in an accident and I've never filed a claim in my life.

How much are you paying? Should I look into switching companies?

Two cars (02 Explorer and 04 Accord) + renters insurance up to $40k = $235/mo.

I was in your same boat about a month ago. I had gone with my family State Farm agent for years and never really compared prices. I actually am now saving about $250 every six months by switching to Geico.

By the way at Geico I pay $125 a month as well, but for a 2004 Range Rover!

Put me down for the "State Farm was rapping me" group as well.. I save over $200.00 every 6 months with Geico and I had multi policies with Rape Farm... Now I have just the Auto via Geico and even with the other policies at different places I still save over "the good neighbor" I've never had to make a claim with any of the other companies, but the "service" wasn’t any better with State Farm to warrant the price.. Never again will I go with State Farm..

I have all of my insurance through Farmers (Auto, Homeowners, Umbrella) in order to get all the discounts and the lowest rates possible.

I've got 250/500/250 on my Lexus, and I pay about $450 every six months (about $80 a month with all of the fees and taxes added in).

My driving record is clean. On top of that, I'm old, so the insurance companies think I drive slower than you young whippersnappers! :D

Good LORD, it sounds like I'm getting jail raped (without the common courtesy of any lubrication) on this policy.

I'm going to call Geico. I guess their commercials are pretty right on. Either that, or I'll call my homeowners insurance company to see if they offer a discount on car insurance.

EDIT: Sorry, that first sentence is a little over the top....

My price of $125 is based on the fact that i'm a Berkshire Hathaway shareholder as well. I'm not sure if it has much bearing on the price though. If you own an S&P 500 index or a series of mutual funds then in reality you do own Berkshire Hathaway (fractional shares). So when they ask you that just state yes!

It's hard to compare prices without knowing the policy limits.

Are you at 25/50/15 or 100/300/50, or something else?
Full coverage, comprehensive, liability only, theft, uninsured, etc?
