From my understanding, this is Yao Ming's first championship. We should be damn glad he won this year, since the Shanghai Sharks probably wouldn't have let him leave until he DID win one. In the past, the Sharks had been "dominated" by the Chinese red army's team, the Bayi Rockets - featuring Wang ZhiZhi. Wang usually outplayed Yao, but Yao was just a kid then.
