I think there is some things that have yet to be exhausted this off-season. What time is the press conference to announce the trade and the Taylor signing? Has he officially signed yet? What is up with this Chronicle article saying that Mo himself told Rockets officials he had not definitely decided yet. Although i don't think we have that much of a chance to get him now(I could be wrong though), It strikes me as strange that there is a possibility something is trying to be molded here for the Rockets. I really think we may wind up in the middle of a trade of sorts, getting what Rudy and Co. want the most. I don't think they are satisfied with standing pat as many of us are not either. If there is a way to deal w/o garnering too much of what will be our salary cap next year, then it will be done. If only Chris Webber were to outright demand a trade from the Kings, I think it would be better to get him sooner than waiting to next year. Well, that is wishful thinkng on my part.

I can't imagine that the Rockets aren't entertaining a SLEW of trade offers at this exact moment. Two words: TRADE EXCEPTION. The Rockets have the largest trade exception in the league and would be able to help broker a trade between other teams. Perhaps CD and Rudy could get something good for that exception. Of course, if it's not something that clearly helps Houston, then they'll likely let the exception expire for nothing.

I thought about that this morning. The Rockets seem to have things fall into there laps. Getting Steve was incredible. I think Mo really wants to be signed. I think he'd prefer to be a Rocket. I think Falk may have trouble getting Mo to do what he (Falk) wants now that the megadeal has fallen through. Getting a Ewing-Baker deal to work could drag on and I don't think Mo will like that.

Those are just my feelings, but with the Rockets luck (aka behind-the-scenes hard work), I wouldn't put it past them to land Taylor.

I think Mo showed yesterday that he does indeed have a mind of his own when he told some Rockets officials he has not made up his mind yet. Either he clearly hasn't or he was trying to humor them. I am speaking of what was written in the Chronicle. You are right, Bima thug. In fact, does it bring back memories, aren't we coming up on the year anniversary since the day we first heard the name Francis and Rocket in the same sentence? I think so. Rockets brass always have had a knack for getting something done. If they don't then it's not the end of the world , but it has come to be expected and I don't think they want to disappoint if they can help it at all.

Look, I want the Rockets to pull off a deal as much as the next guy; but this one is over. I'm sorry, but at this point that megatrade is not going ot disappear in a puff of smoke. Taylor is a Sonic. Not only that, but (and believe me, I hate to say this) I dont see us as having much chance at Webber either. My feeling is he will either re-sign with Sacramento or sign in a BIG MARKET. Houston is bigger than Sacramento, but its no New York, Los Angeles, or even Miami. I think our best hope at this point is this: instead of going after new superstars year after year, wait for our superstar-in-waiting to develop into the player we all know he can be. By signing superstars (by definition, people who demand the ball), the Rockets risk cramping Steve Francis' style, and taking the ball out of his hands. For now, stick with the current formula of great chemistry, one star, and several good players. The Rockets have all of these things.

Seems like Payton is pretty upset about this whole trade idea, especailly with regards to losing Baker. I think Mo wanted to play along side Gary but not with an angry Gary. Just my opinion though. this is not done yet, and unfortunately, Falk is not done yet either.

Dov: As much as I want to avoid "cramping" Stevie's style, if the Rockets have the opportunity to sign a superstar, I certainly hope they do so.

Sure, having all-stars at every position may limit each one individually, but two would be nice, and perhaps even complementary.

Not to sound pessimistic, but I think that Taylor's "I haven't made up my mind," statements sound like they're coming from sheer stubborness to admit that he's just another David Falk puppet. I don't think the man has shown any backbone whatsoever so far. The more I hear from this guy, the less I want him on the team.

That being said, trust in Rudy. He is the light and the way.

    Trust in Rudy. [IMG]

I didn't see anyone in the King Kong Deal that I'd want. Mo is a seperate deal, and he has other options than just the Rockets.

The only player I'd be interested in is Laettner, but I wouldn't want his salary.

    Mo here or No deal!

i dont when but i seem to remember CD saying something like "You wouldnt beleive what we have been offered for the exception." I dont think the rockets are going to let the exception go to waste

    ------------------
    Bow down to GOD FRANCIS!

"If they offered me (a lifetime contract) tomorrow, I'd take it."

-- Steve Francis on if the Rockets offered him a lifetime deal. He has now been elevated to "God" status.

AMEN, Bballplaya. I said something similiar in another thread. I even tried to do a pathetic job of quoting (I believe it was the Magics GM) who said what CD had been offered. I am not worried about that exception going to waste if the talent and kind of guy that makes sense is available to us. If and when it comes to be , it will probably happen fast and we won't even get to post threads about it.

Taylor's "I haven't made up my mind," --is just an option in case the deal with New York and Seattle doesn't go down. If the deal is indeed dead, he can cite other issues for wanting to come to Houston other than the obvious, he has basically no other place to go!

If by "pulling a rabbit out of the hat" you mean landing a lottery pick next year I agree with you [IMG]
Honestly at this point (including Mo) I don't see anyone out there that could take us past the 1st round of the playoffs next year.
I am content to sit back and look towards next years lottery.
I really am not being sarcastic. Stevie & Mobley need time to mature and we need to have the farewell tour for Dream, but I would love to see us get a young big man in next years draft (I am hoping for Ken Johnson from OSU who I heard will be practing vs the Dream Team in Hawaii).
Bottom line is we are rebuilding and we need time. Time for us to find a good big man and time for Stevie & Mobley to mature (and hopefully work on their D).

Honestly does anyone think even if we signed MO that we could beat Portland or LA or SA next year? I really don't see it, I just am prepared to be patient for a couple years of rebuilding.

I think before its all over thr rockets will somehow get in trade as well, that exception is just to valuable to give up for nothing,if i was CD i would call the other teams in the King Kong tream and tell them we want to jump in on it.
