How many roster spots do the Rockets have to fill... I'm seeing some decent stuff out of our new guys and would like to keep some of them around... but I'm not sure how many roster spots we have to fill up...

    Some personal faves include:

    Cornell
    Wilks
    Scales

    Major:

    I see it like this:

    1 Steve
    2 Cat
    3 JJ
    4 EG
    5 Yao
    6 Moo
    7 Pike
    8 AG
    9 Mo
    10 Cato
    11 Boki
    12 JChi

So basically, I see Pete, Fish or Gabe getting a roster sport only if JVG wants to use the IR.

Is there some plantar fasciatis in someone's future? :)

The 12 signed players by position:

    1: Steve Francis, Moochie Norris
2: Cuttino Mobley, Eric Piatkowski, Steve Francis, Jim Jackson, Adrian Griffin
3: Jim Jackson, Adrian Griffin, Bostjan Nachbar, Cuttino Mobley, Eric Piatkowski
4: Mo Taylor, Eddie Griffin, John Amaechi
5: Yao Ming, Kelvin Cato, John Amaechi

Good depth at all positions except for the 1. I suspect that Mike Wilks who is currently outplaying Moochie may be a lock for the IR.

I would much rather they cut Moochie. I was hopefull of a Moochie resurgance this year after all hard work he did coming into the preseason but he has looked terrible. If you can't dribble you can't be a back up point. The kid from Rice has looked much better than Moochie.
I'd keep Nachbar. He is still a kid, just past high school age. If JVG determines that he is a hard worker and has raw skills that will develope I am fine letting Boki develope.

We've got 3 IR spots, but I don't know if they'll want to fill them all. Wilks will get one because we need an additional back-up PG. Otherwise, we're so flush, I don't see any other position that needs reinforcement.

I would love to see Wilks get this spot over Mooch... Mooch's time has come and gone. We need a solid PG and Mooch is just too erratic.

i have a few personal favorites i think scales gets it right now just for his overall play.... not knocking wilkes i just think so far these first couple games scales is is just awesome. now because of moochie i think wilkes HAS to make the team there is no way i can take another year of him as our only backup pg. i know i shouldnt say this but can you guys imagine if..... francis got hurt? Doh!!

van gundy has said stuff along the lines of "we can never have too many guys like that on our team" in reference to wilks, i expect we're going to pick him up and have a solid alternative to running the mooch

    1 - Steve Francis
    2 - Cuttino Mobley
    3 - Jim Jackson
    4 - Eddie Griffin
    5 - Yao Ming

    Adrian Grffin
    Maurice Taylor
    Eric Piatkowski
    Kelvin Cato

Those are the only players I would consider having concrete spots on this team. Thats a pretty damn good 9 man rotation as well.

After that I think that Peter Cornell , Alex Scales, and Bostjan Nachbar or Wilks could fill 10-12. Probably wilks though...

Im sure the final 3 spots will be filled by Nachbar, Norris, and Amaechi though.

well, im going to keep an open mind and remind y'all that we still have that lucrative trade exception. is there a possibility that we can trade a few players for one, which then gives us more spots for wilks (who i like more than mooch) and possibly even scales?

I think we have to expect a trade in the near future, as we definitely need to offload some of our crap and get better, if not more consistent bench players.

I think Alex Scales has a better chance of making the team the Mike Wilks does... Alex is cold man.. Wilks was playing kind of sloppy... of course he is pretty young.. but if i had to pick.. i have take Alex Scales in a heart beat.. that way we have 3 Shooting guards and 3 small forwards.. which is not too bad.. and IM 99 perecent sure he already made the team.. Calvin Murphy keep saying.. trust me bill... im sure the rockets will find a spot for the team.. bill said.. i hope he makes it.. calvin repeated.. TRUST ME.. im sure they will find a spot... hahahahhah.. and plus.. he already has a player profile setup on NBA.com.. none of the other 5 pickups do!! hehe..

Alex is 6-4 (Height) another sg? I think wilks has a better chance to be a 2nd(or 1st) backup for the point.

    Waive AScrubChe and add Scales.

Ameche is among the worst 5's in the NBA.

Also, even with sloppy play Wilks looked a lot better than Mooch in the first 2 preseason games. Was a joy watching Wilks break down the press, Mooch takes 20 years to get the ball down the court on a press. Put somebody on the IR and add Wilks or at least put Wilks on the IR.

    1) Francis
    2) Mobley
    3) Jackson
    4) E. Griffin
    5) Yao

    6) Norris
    7) Pike
    8) A. Griffin
    9) Taylor
    10) Cato

    11) Nachbar
    12) Amaechi

    IR) Wilks
    IR) Scales
    IR) Cornell

Rockets will definitely keep 3 PGs on the roster, with one probably on IR. Last year Hawkins made the team with his great play in the pre-season, this year it looks like Scales is showing his stuff. Not sure if they will keep 3 players on IR but I suspect they will at least keep one, being the 3rd PG.

I don't think they are going to cut Norris, Amaechi or Nachbar. They are under contract and are not "team cancers" so it does not make sense to cut them.

There my friends is most likely our roster.

Deuce, thanks for clearing up the cluttered mess I posted... Thats exaclty the roster I was thinking.. and I'll be more than happy with that roster.

During the season I would alternate: Mooch, Meeche & Boki to the IR so Cornell, Scales & Wilks could play.

Theres no way we can let Scales get away!!
I would put Mooch on IR immediately and let Wilks play.
