Please tell me more than 6.5...I think he should at least give us some Otis Thourpe type rebounding number. Maybe its just me, but i expect at least 9 rebounds per game from the power forward position. And honestly I think all good PF should average double digit rebounds anyway. Just me?

Do we need Mo to be like OT? IMO, no. The rockets were one of the better TEAM REBOUNDING clubs in the league. If that stays consistent, we really don't have to rely to HEAVILY on Mo rebounding. At least, I hope that is the case. Just my opinion and some food for thought.

Come on guys...How many star PF dont give you double digit, or almost double digit(9), REBS per game? We are talking about a guy who will be expecting the max salary next year from us. If he doesnt give us double digit REBS, I dont think hes worth the Maxium. Still a pretty penny, but not the max.

Didn't the Warriors lead the league in team rebounding?

If we can get about 7 from Mo, 5-6 from Cato, 6-7 from KT, 5-6 from Franchise, and about 5 boards from Shandon, I'll be totally ecstatic. If you put that all together, you have yourself a really excellent rebounding team.
Franchise's Team, it's unrealistic to expect 10+ rebounds from a power forward (only 7 players in the entire league averaged over 10 or above last season) and you'd be almost as hard-pressed to find a guy who can pull down 8-9 boards. I think a steady improvement from 6.5 to 7 or 7.5 is realistic for Mo and I'd be totally happy to see it from him given our all-around rebounding prowess.

i think Mo will likely get 7-8 boards. but i also think Cato will get more than that. if given starter minutes i beleive that Cato will lead the team on the glass. Mo will likely average close to 8/game for his career. than again i am being a little optomistic in mo's case, but i think he wont have to be our big rebounder. Cato should have that covered, ans steve picks up the scraps.

Its great that Stevie is one of the teams best rebounders. But your frontcourt, your power players, your big mens job is to collect those rebounds. We dont want to not have our big men rebounds so that Stevie can up his rebounding average. I'm sayin, how high do you set the bar for this guy? Especally to get the max salary next year?

Anybody know of any player who has gotten less than 6.5 rebs per game in his first three seasons, two starting, only to suddenly increase to more than 8 let alone 9 or 10 in the following season? I'm just wondering if there's a comparable situation to Mo's we can draw from.

    Franchises' Team,

You expect Maurice Taylor to do what 16-20 ppg and 10 rpg? Should we not resign him unless he makes the all-star squad as a starter? Personally, I'm happy if he gets 8 boards. A difference of two is a lot, when you consider highs and lows and the averages of the two over an 82 game regular season. Sure, he grab a lot some nights, and a petty few on others. But to expect 10 is a lot to ask, especially when he's not the only guy in the frontcourt who can board.

I would not be surprised if Mo doubled his rebound output this season but really I think he will bring down between 8-10 a night. You all might laugh but even though he hasent proven it yet I think he could be one of the leagues top rebouders, the guys upperbody is hugh!

I didnt say we dont resign him if he doesnt average double digit REB. But I dont think he deserves the max salery if he doesnt come with double digit REB.

    FYI:

    TEAM REB
    1 L.A. Lakers 47.0
    2 Golden State 45.5
    3 Atlanta 45.3
    4 Sacramento 45.0
    5 Orlando 44.9
    6 Denver 44.6
    7 Philadelphia 44.0
    8 San Antonio 43.8
    9 Houston 43.8

What in H*** is wrong with 8.5 rebs/game? CWebb gets 10.5, Brand gets 10.0, Malone and Mourning get 9.5.

8.5 ranks you in the Top 20 in the league. Mo does that and I'm satisfied. Anything more is a BIG plus especially if they're defensive boards.

    Gater,

I didn't mean from 6.5 to 8.5 rpg. I meant from what I expect-8 rpg-to the 10 that Franchises' Team expects. 16-20 points a game and 10 rebounds is a lot. It'd be great, but that's also a lot to be pissed about if he doesn't make the all-star team.

I want him to blend in offensively, pass a little more and definately rebound. But to go from 6.5 to ten or to expect or even think about him doubling his 6.5 average is nuts (RENDIGGLER3:20).

Just watch and set attainable expectations. Why would we sign him to a maximimum contract if we doesn't earn it? I doubt that the Rockets would forget what they did with Cato.

Well in this offense, especially if Mo is going to be called on to be a scorer, (he will) if he gets 8 a game he will be doing a GREAT job and I for one will be VERY happy with that.

I mean, 15-20 points a game and 8 rebounds is VERY respectable. Maybe someday if he really learns to pound and grind he can be a double double guy, but probably not in this offense at this stage of his career...

Mo. T. is coming from the Clippers, ok, The LA Clippers people come on. We dont need him to play like he did with the Clippers, where he was really the only consistant scorer. Maybe with the exception of Odem. Dont get me wrong, If he is on a hot streak, you ride it out of course. Its great that we got a PF that can wear em out on the offensive end. But here with the Rockets we need him to focus on D more than he ever did with the Clippers. And We are going to need him to concentrate on hitting the boards harder than he ever did with the Clippers. Cause out here in this West, baby, it aint no joke to win the Battle at the PF spot. Some night you cant wear teams out on offense. They keep fresh defenders comin at you, al la Rasheed/Kemp/Davis. Keeping the likes of those guys off the boards should be much higher on his priorty list than it was with the Clipper. If he concentrates a lot more on REB his scoring average will still got up from last year as long as he gets th REB the Stevie for the fast break.
