Dwight Howard kissing the rim. How hard is this? vs say touching the top of backboard? He is jumping flat footed.
It would have to suck if he jumped a little too high. He'd knock out a few of his teeth and split his lip.
Yeah you can't assume all the stuff you see in pics are real now a days but I could see how this could be real. The way the back of his shorts and the front of his jersey are flying up would indicate that he's in midair. Then again, photoshop can do crazy things so i dunno.
Howard seems like the real deal, I really like his game. He's got the athleticism of Amare and a nice touch around the basket like KG. With the right coaching (Brian Hill won't do) and the right teamates (Francis isn't he best player for him), he could turn into the next KG-no joke.
The dude is going to be the next Shaq. He is only 19 years old and hasn't finished filling out yet. The kid is going to be just sick when he learns some footwork.
Dwight is 6'10'' and the rim is 10'. So that means he jumped 38'' + couple of inches cuz his lips are touching the rim instead of the top of his head. It's possible. I'm sure Amare and other athletic freaks can do it as well.
I call B.S. There's no way you would be able to jump high enough without putting your arms up - for momentum and to stop your mouth smacking the rim in case you get a lil too much air.
I agree with everything you are saying except the touch part. His touch around the basket is terrible, considering he can only dunk. I watched a number of Magic games on NBA League pass last year when Rockets were not playing, and I grew to like Howard. However, I would cringe everytime he would get the ball and try to make a move around the basket. He seemed to just throw it around the basket. He didnt even have a soft touch so the ball would ricochet hard off of the rim or the board most of the time. When he went for a dunk, results were very good. He is really young though so he will definately improve. He is still very raw but his potential is thru the roof.
It looks like the rim is lower then ten feet in that picture. Even if you just look at the angle the camera is at....its not so much pointing up at the rim as its on a more level....eh.....level.
I'd imagine that his arms aren't long enough to touch the top of the backboard from that height. Thus, in my opinion, the grabbing of the quarter off the top of the backboard is more impressive. I admire the accuracy in his jump though. Most impressive though, is Clyde Drexler dunking on a 12-foot goal.
Well, either he didn't quite manage to kiss the rim, or the photographer has bad timing. He's not actually touching it. I don't know why people would doubt the authenticity of the photo though. He can jump that high. It's not that hard to move one's head a bit to correct a little for proximity. Why fake the photo?
Its a photoshop right, http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...magic1205oct12,0,3335720.story?coll=orl-magic I don't know.
