How many languages do you know? I personally know English, and a little bit of French so as my homeland language, Bosnian. I think that knowing a lot of languages is very important, and useful. Btw, tell one sentence on the language you know. I ll start with Bosnian. Sta ima? - Whats up?, Yo Zdravo - Hello
I consider a language is something that can be spoken and WRITTEN. (eg. "cantonese" would not be consider a "language" imo, but its a dialect) I guess I would say I only know English fluently. But as to what I can understood or speak: English, Mandarin, Cantonese, TaiShan dialect. And to a small extent Japaneses. Personally I wouldn't consider knowing more language is beneficial (since how much one can memorize is limited) Is like learning French in Canada (forced), its completely useless since its not as practical relative to major languages such as English, Chinese, Spanish, etc. (I would rather learn German/Dutch then French). ps. Personally, I think speaking multiple languages to someone (that could only understand one of them) does not make you look "trendy" or "smart" or "higher class", but rather its pretty r****ded. I'm mainly referring to HK'er (especially their celebrity)

How difficult is French to learn? I was thinking about doing a program in it to learn some rudimentary French before I head over there for study abroad this summer.
EDIT: 2 1/2 . (answering the OP's question) Spanish - yeah, I know... surprising, no? English - I speak it and write it better than most of you United Statesians. Franchise3 - try to translate what I wrote about French. It's easy.
I know English. I'm trying to learn Spanish. I learned German pretty well in High School, but have forgotten it since. I think I could get it back fairly quickly if I had a need.

Took classes in the Heights and speak to my friends in Rio. They like that Im learning. Books, CD's..........getting ready for my next visit.
Something about being able to speak French by learning it from CDs from the public library while you sit in Houston traffic, even though you are Mexican? I actually have a really high retention rate of vocabulary words from taking Spanish I and II as a freshman/sophomore in high school (which was about 8 years ago). That is helping as I've noticed that a lot of French words are similar to their Spanish equivalents. I'm planning on learning to be mildly fluent in spoken Spanish when I return from France, so I can speak to all the hombres in Miami.
