How many games will the Rockets win this year?

Just for a reference, there are 82 games in the season.

    That means 41-41 is a .500 record.

Last year, the Rockets had 53 wins.

The best record last season was held by the Cleveland Cavaliers, who finished with 66 wins.

The worst record last year was held by the Sacramento Kings, who finished with 17 wins.

Here are the official final standings from last year:

I am going with 44 wins. Could be more or less, but I think the Rockets are going to be OK. If the Rockets stay healthy, and McGrady comes back looking strong, it could be up to 50. If McGrady does not come back strong, and the Rockets suffer important injuries, who knows.

The Rockets will lose often and will have a lottery draft pick.

That doesn't exactly narrow it down. The Rockets could win 45 games, miss the playoffs, and have a lottery draft pick.

    I think 40-44 is most likely, then 35-39, then 45-49, then 30-34.

Definitely in the range between 35-39. Our Rockets will not be garbage but I can't see them being above .500 or making the Western playoffs, unless Phoenix or New Orleans end up sucking horribly.

41/41 but every win is building toward something big when Yao comes back.

As we have mentioned in other thread, it all depends on a guy named Tracy McGrady. If he comes back to his former self I will say we can win around 40-45 games.

If not, we will win no more than 30-35 games. Reality.

I think we will pull off 50 wins. Based on historical data and some thoughts about the make up of the team.

I am assuming Brooks will have improved, and that Ariza will make up for the loss of Artest by at least 75%.

50 Wins...we could hardly pull that off with Mcgrady and Yao there is no logic as to how this team wins 50 games

This team took the Lakers to seven games without McGrady or Yao.

A seven game series doesnt equate to a full season.

Still, once Yao went out, how many people were there here on this board, which is populated by the highest concentration of Rocket's homers on the internet, believe there was any chance that the Rockets would take the Lakers to seven games?

If we could put that question to everyone on this board while they are on truth serum, and then count up the yeses, I am confident it would be an exceedingly small number.

    40-44...

Even without Yao and McGrady, the Rockets are in the middle of the pack in the NBA and/or Western Conference.

    Championship level? No.

    .500 or slightly better? Yes.

The god awful 2002 Rockets when Steve played half the games and was sick was way worse than the team is now.

They were able to win 28 games with people like Moochie, Cato, Griffin etc,

If that trainwreck can almost win 30, this team should at least win 41.

I think RA can coach up at least a .500 season.

That is the Rocket's message to all of the so-called experts who are predicting that the Rockets are going to be terrible this year.

    Go Rockets!
