Because I don't see the Rockets organization ponying up the $6 million a year that he's been offered.
Weird, I don't remember Posey getting all this love during the season. I just remember everyone saying he couldn't shoot. Now that he's leaving, all the sudden we can't survive without him? Get over it.
We don't know he is leaving. Probably, yes, but as far as I know the org has not confirmed either way. So you should drop the arrogance and tude and get over yourself.
The 15 day clock starts when Carroll Dawson gets the offer sheet in hand, not when Memphis signs him. Note that the League Office gets it first, to OK the accompanying contract. Sometimes it is like 1-3 days after we hear the announcement for the clock to start. See the reports of Ricky Davis last year for how their GM (or someone) says they signed the day they got it (a Tue), although the offer sheet signing was announced on a Friday. Likewise, Brand was matched 3 days after Miami signed him. I think that was probably really a Day 1 signing like Davis, just took a few business days to get in hand.
Its not six million a year its prorated starting with approx $4.9 Million the first year. Considering Les just got back $16 Million from the NBA and Rice will be off the books next year, we shoulds get him back....Please! We dont want the three Guard rotation under any cirtcumstance!
It's funny that some people blast the Rockets for not matching the offer. This is how we end up paying Moochie, Maurice, and Cato the big bucks. The bottom line is whether or not the Rocks' front office feels that Posey is the solution at the 3 and whether or not they feel he is worth that much over the long term. This is a young team and Posey doesn't make us title contenders. Why not focus on getting rid of bad salaries this year and wait for the RIGHT piece to become available. Posey didn't make us any better last year and every team has a weak spot. The diiference is that good teams have great players that cover the others weaknesses. I think that with some strong coaching, Steve and Yao can become great players. Maybe EG will develop this year and Cuttino can become more consistent. This is our best chance of winning. I say we start MoT and try and get some value out of him by the trade deadline or next Summer. Let EG develop and maybe given the time that Jermaine O'Neal had, he can develop into a strong player. It takes time and good coaching to win consistently. We've got the coach, so let's give him the time.
Yetti, Those who object to the matching aren't concerned about Les's purse. They are concerned about implications of the team's future ability to acquire or retain quality players. The disagreement is not whether we should save Les some money. It's whether Posey is worth the money for us to commit to the contract.
if you don't know spanish, don't try to translate. where do you see the word open? Why can't you people realize posey leaving is for the best
I want to be Mexican and it's fun! What does puede mean? Oh it means can't? Hey...I'm in Spanish 1! And anyways.......what the heck is he doing saying Spanish in an English BBS?
Very well put, Easy. That is my sentiments exactly. I am not here to save Les a few bucks (save for if he hires me to do so) but I am concerend that Poze ain't worth that much jack plus Boki is my man. I strongly believe he will surely blossom like the lily and hibiscus flowers in due time.
But we dont have a STARTING SMALL FORWARD! Boki too inexperienced, Rice is only fit for the Preservative! We could of course bring back T Morris instead of Posey. I like Poseys play he showed speed and guts, he was one of the few exciting players last season!
