According to a small note by Peter Vecsey (yeah ... I know) in this morning's New York Post, the Rockets will take anything for Mo Taylor. http://www.nypost.com/sports/32503.htm Powerless forward Maurice Taylor (zero rebounds in 29 minutes Tuesday against Detroit) might very well be sitting alongside Juwan Howard in Jeff Van Gundy's doghouse if the Rockets weren't so eager to trade him. You can't make Houston' an offer for Taylor it'll refuse. Maybe this will put an end to "Mo + (whatever)" for quality player proposals. He looks to be officially dead weight.
I read this as well and I was a little surprised. I would have thought MoT would have a little better value because he is such a good offensive forward that could help alot of teams off the bench in certain situations.
He takes the word 'power' out of power forward. I think he should be called the non small forward instead of power forward.
Our PF situation is probably the worse it's ever been in the history of the Rockets. We have about 20 million tied up in Taylor, Howard, and Spoon...ugh.
I think it's the combination of his lack of ability to rebound and his large contract which makes him virtually untradable - unfortunately. Who knows, though...one sees lopsided trades in this league all the time, so never stop trying, CD!
I'm sure there is a "contract" deal out there - one team getting rid of a bad player / bad contract for another in the hope that change of scenery may mean improvement. But, of course, you just end up getting another potential bad player with a bad contract.
Well, PJ Brown is much older and has a similarly bad contract and the Hornets are desperately in need of some offense...I would think...if they even sign Lee Nailon. We should really try to talk to them.
Mo is obviously available. But come on, guys - this is Peter Vescey. Where's VesceySux when you need him?
MoT and Juwan have the lowest trade value ever right now. The Rockets better hope for better play during this easy stretch of games or we are going to have a very difficult finding a trade partner for these guys.
I wouldn't be surprised that the Rockets want to rid of Mo as quickly as possible but I doubt if they will take junk back. Vecsey tends to exaggerate things.
The thing that bothers me the most about Mo is that his shot is gone... Sure he has always sucked as a defender and rebounder, but at least he could score.....this year....that has not been the case. Oh, and the fact that Mo said he does not care whether he comes off the bench or starts, tells you all you need to know about this loser. DD
Never under estimate the power of a couple of second round picks in the eyes of some posters to pick up a quality player. Sadly, I'm afraid everyone's value has been cut in half right now and some were pretty low to begin with.
Mo is worthless. No, he is worse than worthless because he gets paid and takes a roster spot. MoT+Howard= 0 offensive game.
I think it would be absolutely stupid to GIVE Mo away for next to nothing. We've invested in him, we might as well keep him...he's not a bad scorer. Howard on the other hand...
What makes you think we have not alredy spoken to the Hotrnests about PJ? Just because CD does not check in with us does not mean he is not doing his job.
Why not play Mo at small forward? Everyone else at that spot sucks, anyway. The season's basically over, so just run Mo and Howard out there together at 3 and 4, and feed them the ball in garbage time against scrubs. Let the other team build a comfortable 20 point lead, then pad our loser's stats. We need to trade JJ while he still has any value to avoid this with him, too. Also, thanks for that 3 year deal with Charlie Ward. Good thinking. Couldn't just pass on him when he wanted multiple years - just had to lock that up. Can't ever get too many years, can you, CD? Unless, of course, it's the option on Griffin or Boki. Then pass. No point locking in your trade capital. Gotta save that money for Mo T and Charlie Ward. Ugh. Seriously, why not try something new with Mo? What's there to lose? We got nothin'.
