I have to arrange to meet for dinner the night of the draft (#$%#&*!) and I want to be able to at least watch the draft up to the point that the Rocks pick at #8. How long will that take? How much time there between picks, and do the teams usually take the full time allotted? The draft is slotted to begin at 7:00 eastern, but I wonder if there will be a lot of 'pre game' before the first pick is selected? And once it begins, do you think we'll reach the 8th pick within an hour?
Help a fellow rocket fan out!

Record it on your Tivo or VCR -- and don't turn on anything electronic until you come home and watch it as if it were live. The bonus is you get to fast forward through the commercials.

Turn off your cell phone. You should do that anyway in consideration of the person(s) with whom you are dining.

The Draft selections officially starts at 7:30 eastern. There's a 5 minute time limit to draft (Thank god. You'd be screwed with the NFL draft since they only do 4 picks an hour). So assuming that we don't trade down, our 8th pick will get drafted at about 8:10. But if all these draft rumors are true, then you've got to look out for who Atlanta picks at 5. If they pick Roy then that pick is probably coming to us.

Thanks for the info! I'm definitely watching everything very closely up to five, because I'm dying to know who goes first, to see if the Bobcats take Roy, and of course to see who Atlanta picks at 5. But I still have to wait until the Rocks pick, because if the trade does indeed go down, you know Stern won't announce it until after the 8 pick, and hell- maybe not until a long time after that.

Quick question- back when we traded three picks for Griffin (sorry to reopen that wound,) did anybody have an inkling of what was going on? Did anybody have a prediction of us trading up to 7? I remember following the rumors pretty closely here and I don't think anybody reported such a rumor- the trade was a huge surprise to us all. Man, I remember a lot of people on this board thought Richard Jefferson would be a bust. Ugh.

I remember being happy about Jefferson, somewhat cool with Collins, but sour on Brandon Armstrong. Ecstatic about the trade when it happened later. Stupid crack.

Correct me if I'm wrong Evan because I may be ... but didn't we find out about the trade, from Vecsey or someone, between 13 and 18? I can't remember and I was just wondering this the other day. They couldn't officially announce it until it was done, but I thought the viewers were aware sometime after Jefferson was picked. Maybe not.

Yep. In hindsight, Jefferson looked like he should obviously be better than Eddie, although after their first year, some of us would not have traded Eddie for Rashard or KG.
