Even though the Rockets are hurting, T-Mac should be held out for month to get his back healthy. I just hope the Rockets will make some moves to salvage the season.
Backs are notoriously tricky. Unlike other injuries, it's difficult to tell when a player might recover. It looked like McGrady was going to be able to return after missing a week, but it seems that the strain during the back-to-back games was enough to tighten him up again. My personal guess is that he tries to return either against Chicago or Atlanta, since the schedule will be more spaced out (5 games over 15 days, beginning Sat), allowing him to rest and loosen his back more in between games. Compare that to our current 10 games in 16 days schedule. Evan
Coach Jeff Van Gundy said Tracy McGrady (back) will not play in Tuesday's game against Dallas. The coach added he doesn't know when T-Mac will return. "Neither he or I think it's beneficial where he's in and out of the lineup," Van Gundy said. "So, hopefully, we can learn how to become a more balanced team and Yao can be effective even in those games when McGrady's not here, where he's the focal point of the game plan." David Wesley could get another start in his absence. http://fantasybasketball.rotoworld.com/content/home_nba.asp?sport=NBA
D'oh. Well, I'd like to see him sit out for a while as well. I agree that backs can be tricky, and I'd rather go without him for a month than to have him struggle through the entire season with back problems. Then again, we can't be sure that sitting out a month would be a cure all, either, so it may be a waste of time to wait that long. Good think I'm not the doctor!
i'm glad to hear that they are not taking any more risks with his back. i was very upset when they let tmac rushhimself back in the lineup. i would rather him sit out a month and be sure that he's back to 100%, even if it means losing every game that he misses. our future is too bright to risk just to make it to the second round this season and be beat by the spurs. even if we miss the playoffs, but tmac's back can heal to the point where he will be fine for a few seasons, then i would be happy and look foward to next season.
This season isn't close to being over and I would definitely let or suggest to the staff to keep him out for the remainder of the month and let him have a nice Thanksgiving breather. I'd rather be losing or starting slggish now than in March or April. That being said though our offense is crappy in which words can't describe it. You'd expect that in a way with T-Mac out, but we seem to have no offensive sets which means no rhythm. Every team knows that one of the Rockets guards will pass it into Yao and their opponents' forwards eventually plays Yao well and forces him out of the paint. Then once the opponent has they're only offensive play figured, the team breaks down toward the end of the game. We had this start last year and we ended up with a pretty good season, but their offense has to score more than 70 points a game to be successful.
this is just my humble opinion, but I feel this rockets team would be much better with a healthy TMac, just my two cents... That's why they pay me the big bucks.
yes i think you are right. it is way early thay pay you the big bucks and all you can put in is two cents???
Bullard said T-Mac wants to play but JVG and Keith Jones refuse to let him. They even had to take the jersey out of his locker so he wouldnt suit up. He said that it was a very tough decision because they know they will lose with out him, but that it would be better for T-Mac to fully recover instead of be on a nightly questionable basis. In short, T-Mac aint playing until he is back to 100% or damn close.
