Tito Maddox is not critical to the Rockets at this point. I know the team picked him up as a project, putting him on the IR so he could learn how to deal with traps, presses, etc. However, my curiousity spurs the question: "How is the education of Tito Maddox progressing?"
I would believe he must be having a fantastic time under Steve Francis. I mean...the best! It would be even better if we sent him to the John Stockton School of Point Guards... That would be the best education for him. I think Tito Maddox is doing pretty good on the injured list. He and Glen Rice are the only two on the disabled list now. Right...I don't really think about him that much...
Moochie actually makes his shots. He's just not confident enough to shoot them. He is always wide open. But he's always hesitant to shoot. He always fakes. When he shoots, he usually makes his shots. Free throws...terrible.
Forget Jay Williams. He doesn't count in this thread. Moochie, on the other hand, is a competent backup until Tito's point guard education is prime-time ready. Considering Moochie's penchant for dribbling, you can understand why I want to know how Tito is progressing. However, Tito may remain a project and the Moochster could be the backup for a long time to come. Either way, I look forward to one of them reducing Steve's minutes so SF won't be exhausting come playoff time.
According to Rudy in his 610 hour this week: (paraphrased) Maddox is looking great! He brings defensive intensity 100% of the time and can actually apply pressure 3/4 of the court - he's great at using the slide to move laterally. He is working with the shooting coaches a *lot* on his shot. He also really helps out the team practices by keeping the intensity high and making our guards work. In conclusion, Rudy seemed very happy that they selected him in the draft.
Baron Davis has a similar shooting percentage, yet last year during the playoffs people on this board were begging for the Rockets to trade Steve for Baron. Just because a player has poor FT percentage, it doesn't mean they can't play. Anyways, Moochie has had OK FT last year; which means that he can at least at some point begin shooting well again.
