Anyone know the progress on Rice and Mo Taylor? I know Rice is gone for the yaer, but what about Mo T? Buzz was he was close and might return sometime after the break but I haven't heard anything since in the papers or on the net.

Better question... MO T is suspended for 5 games by the NBA bc of toking up. Now, what keeps the Rox from activating Mo, say 5 games before he is really likely able to play? Does the NBA oversee this at all?

Even if Mo isn't fit to play, the Rockets will probably activate him for the last five games of the season so he can serve his suspension. This is a common practice.

As for Mo's health, I too would like to know how he is coming along. There was talk of him returning at the end of this month. I would love to see the Rockets work out their forward glut this season, rather than having to struggle through it next year.

I believe someone on this board already posted that the suspension takes place next year, regardless of whether or not he comes back this year.

I believe Pops posted a while back something about the Rox not wanting to piss off the League Office after granting us the med exception, and that Mo's suspension was actually worded to take place next season since the league has been under the impression he will not be playing this season.

*as always, IMHO - pls do your own due diligence!*

A while back Jonathan Feigan (on 610) said the suspension will most likely be served next year. He said the Rockets do not want to unnecessarily piss of the league. If the Rockets are ever in a bind with another team, the Rockets would not get the positive results. The league would favor the other team due to Rockets cheating their way through the Maurice suspension.

Is Mo in drug rehab or physical rehab?

I don't exactly remeber who ZRB, but I know it was a poster with good info. Maybe pops, as pdg pointed out.

5 games this year, 5 games next year, whatever. As long as he can practice with the team.

And Mo is in physical rehab.

I thought it was automatic that as soon as a player is suspended, they can't play. What if Mo was to legitimately come back healthy in mid-March. Would the suspension be served then?

    Guys,

Mo won't be back until next year. The Rockets consider him a key piece of the puzzle and they are NOT going to rush him. He'll serve his suspension next year for exactly the reasons Rockets03 stated. There is no reason to piss off the league by bringing him back with 5 games left. They might even get punished for it.

He would love to play, but they aren't going to rush him.

    About Rice's health status?

Can he come back to servicable status next year? Was this years sorry excuse for his play due to his health problems or just his age?

A bit harsh, but can we count on Rice or is it time to start thinking about Kenny Thomas as our permanent starting SF.

Kenny has been really playing awsome.

I would be really surprised if KT became a permanent 3. My guess is that the Rockets will work their asses off to get a young 3 either through the draft or through free agency/trade (Rashard Lewis anyone?). KT is probably going to be trade bait because of how he has played and the glut at the 4, not to mention his favorable salary number.

If the Rockets did manage to land someone like Lewis, they would be in an awfully good position for quite some time (assuming Francis also remains). I'm sure a lineup that included Francis, Mobley, Lewis, Griffin, Taylor, Cato and Norris would make the Rockets pretty damn happy.

I was hoping Mo would come back and sort of test drive his leg for next season.

I'm very excited at the prospect of us having KT and 2 first rounders this upcoming year. If they can turn that into Odom, or Rashard, that would be great.

Clipps can pickup a C, a project(anything), and KT (backup PF). THEN they'd have the depth to make an impact in the playoffs.
