Why Rockets players cant do a lob pass to Yao? Before they couldnt because the other team had another player checking him from behind, but now, there isnt anyone. Why cant they do a lob pass? You throw it high and he should be able to catch it.
because yao can't really handle the lob pass? it is really easy to say to give him a lob pass but if you try to do it in real life, its hard its hard for the passer to not pass it too hard, too high, its hard for the receiver to get it...
Have you been watching? They've only attempted one lob pass and that was an immediate turnover. They're running a play that's been effectively pinning his defender behind him.
The pass has to be perfect for Yao. It seems like only Shae was able to do it. Yao cannot time himself properly to jump in the air and control the ball.
It boggles my mind how nobody except for Battier who knows how to pass to Yao. With the ability of Brooks, Lowry & Wafer to get into the paint only Wafer passes off, which is twice a year. The Rockets are either scared or just stupid, along with RA for not getting on the players about it. They all say they have something that works during practice but in the game they do not execute. I find that VERY, VERY hard to believe and it's just bluff. Rockets coaches and players have failed and will cost Yao a shot at a championship. If I were Yao I would take any offer from a contenting team and force my way out. The Rockets have seriously ruined Yao's career, first it was the dribbling ego of Francis and partly Mobley, then it was Tracy's ego and now it's Artest and his gang of low IQ'd players with AB at the very top. Great going guys, thanks for costing us another first round exit or a sweep and embarrasing 4 games vs. LA
Because it can be a highly risky move. It's like sex without a condom. Battier and T-Mac and Airballston were our best passers to Yao. Shane is the only one left.
Because Yao isn't athletic enough to just jump up and grab it, plus his reaction time is fairly slow. If it was that easy solving the fronting issue wouldn't be a problem.
This has got to be one of the dumbest posts I've seen in a while. You really think that our coaches and players have never seen a fronting defense and been able to beat it? This is a problem with Yao, you're just too ignorant to see it. He's too slow to beat a quicker fronting player. And as for that last part, if you've given up already, GTFO. We don't need trash like that here.
Brooks is a scorer. When he gets into the paint he looks to score. I thought Scola would be an excellent passer to Yao from the high post. But he always passes to a guard on the perimeter; never to Yao. It is usually easiest to go hi-lo. The Rox just don't have the personnel to do it.
Yao loses jump balls to shorter guys like 90 percent of the time, I'm sure it's pretty difficult for average passers.
I got an idea: howsabout passing the ball to Yao when he CALLS for it? Interesting idea, huh? Pass it to Yao when HE thinks he's open...rather than when YOU think hes open. Im willing to trust Yao's intuition there...especially since he's the one with guys hanging all over him.
you need: 1. a good passer, Shane may be the only one 2. a good catcher, Yao isn't the best of them 3. a decisive pass, again, only Shane does it best 4. Practice, this I don't know, do they?
In this year, only tmac can do that good. tmac is tall and can draw attention from the fronting player and this can give space for yao...
It's never easy to loop because of help defense, with today's rules it's easy to lockdown slow centers. Then again whenever there's fronting/double team/help defense, it means open shots for other players as well. Rockets just need better passers to know when and where to pas.
