I don't it gonna happen, we don't have anything that Memphis want, salary wise it alsome impossible to match but, it would be cool if we can get Gasol. I don't any team in the league can stop us
But what if we had drafted Jordan and Hakeem!! How many championships had we have won!! Woo hoo!! Hot damn!!
Even assuming we could match.. don't you have to declare some guys as "untouchable" before you call this team unstoppable with him? Or should I assume you're saying Pau/TMac/Yao and any other 2 are unstoppable? Pau is soft in the post except for weakside help...I'd rather have Chuck defending the 4's of the West.
The untouchables for the Rockets in this case would be Yao/McGrady/and probably Battier because of Van Gundy's man crush on him. Gasol says he wants out and he wants to go to a contender. That list isn't too big if you ask me: Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio being favorites for the title with Houston, Utah, Lakers, Miami, and maybe Detroit bringing up the challengers. Of those teams I'm sure someone can put together a better package than the Rockets, but would they be willing to blow up their rosters? Hypothetically, the Rockets could offer Howard, Head, Sura's contract, Spanoulis/ or Novak and our 1st round pick. Would that be anywhere to close to get it done, I'm doubt it but weirder things have happened. As for having Pau on this team it would be amazing. You've got to be kidding me as far as having Chuck Hayes play against the 4's in the West. He can't do it. Yeah, he hustles and all, but he's foul prone, undersized and a liablity on offense. At least Pau would make Dirk and Duncan work on the other end, and could keep the team going with Mac and Yao on the bench. This team would be the favorite bar-none if Gasol were playing the PF position. PG - Rafer Alston/TE player SG - McGrady/Snyder/Wells SF - Battier/Wells/Novak PF - Gasol/Hayes C - Ming/Mutumbo
trade vspan and novak, 2 1st rounders, a 2nd rounder, juwan howard, and whoever else to even it up. still not gonna work, but hey, i can dream.
A couple of you guys should lay off the thread starter and take the discussion a bit more seriously. In case you weren't aware, Gasol has asked to be traded to a playoff contender. It's not like this guy just picked a random star and said "hey, he'd be good to have". Sure, it won't happen, but lighten up a bit.
He doesn't fit...he would make the low block far too crowded..... We need players that can play off of a 7'6" guy who is going to be on the block and drawing a ton of attention. DD
Crowded? The guy isn't built like Boozer or Brand, DD. I'm sure he could easily slip into our offense. Of course, the odds of getting him are astronomically NOT in our favor. But as ClutchCityReturns posted, he does want to be traded to a contender. We qualify in that regard. We just don't have a lot of chips to toss on the table. Maybe a 3-way deal. Maybe no. Assuredly no.
can Gasol really play 4? if so, that will be really great, and he could also back up Yao at 5 after deke retired.
I'm pretty sure he can, considering that's been his position ever since he got to the NBA... He's playing center now because the Grizz are using a small lineup to try and run like the Suns.
The Bulls are rumored to have offered Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, PJ Brown for Pau Gasol and one other player (something like Alexander Johnson or Hakim Warrick) That deal is better than anything we can offer.
Yeah I saw this too. Definitely better than what we can give them, unless they have interest in the following guys: Howard, Sura, Wells, Head, Spanoulis. Howard and Sura plus any combination of 1, 2 or 3 of the other guys will work under the cap.
Personally i think we are a Rashard Lewis/Lamar Odom/Dunleavy type of power forward away from being the best team in the nba hands down.A player like that would keep the offense going even when Tracy sits. They would also spread the floor for Yao.Too bad Rashard wants to remain a Sonic plus players like that probably get paid too much
