To me the Clippers seem to an enormous amount of young talent and potential. C-Olawakandi Pf- Brand, Wilcox, Ely Sf-Odom, Maggette, Miles Sg-QRichardson Pg-Mcginnis (who may go), Jakric To me it looks like they have a chance to win 50 games this season if everyone gells and maybe they make a trade for an Andre Miller or Baron Davis. Maggette, Miles, QRich to me seem to have an enourmous amount of potiental to become all-star calibur players along with Brand. Odom has talent but his off court ordeals hurt his image and may do him in. Even if he goes, I feel the Clippers still have a great chance of winning 47-52 games depending on whether they get good PG production and improve their chemistry. What do you guys think?
Assuming they re-sign Kandi, the Clippers will be as good as Marco Jaric and Keyon Dooling are. How good is that? We won't find out until the season starts. McInnis, though, is as good as gone. Jaric is supposedly Europe's best PG right now and around the age of 23, he's still a ways away from his best playing days. I imagine he could come in and have a season much like Tony Parker did this year, but we'll have to see how he holds up.
You think? I disagree. Kandi - People say he's ready to "explode." I don't see it. I do see a guy who has benefited from having better teammates. Brand - probably not getting much better Odom - headcase - could be a greate player, if he ever gets it together Richardson - don't see him getting much better; I think he'll be a life-time shooter. Valuable, but not dynamic. PG - uhh... who? Miles, of course, has serious talent... but he's probably not ready to make serious contributious next year. Maggette never has learned to shoot the jumper. Text book case of a guy who should have stayed in college.
if suspension and guys bolting don't kill them first, it's the thought that their owner will never shell out money to actually give them any confidence/hope that they can gel together, form team chemistry, and actually get somewhere. unless sterling opens up his pockets, every year will be the same: never make it to the playoffs (or not deep enough to matter), players leave for more money, new players come in. they have to make their organization as household door instead of a corporate revolving door.
I feel like the Clippers are a very talented team. But, I also have this feeling that they cannot quite put things together. They have the potential to win 50 games, but I feel that they will cap out at 43 wins.
They need a strong coach. Can Alvin Gentry pull this strange crew together? Does he have a plan to use their strengths, cover their weaknesses? I'm not sure. They have the talent to win 50, but I'm not sure they can play together.
I expect them to have much the same season they had last year. They could make the playoffs depending on how well Utah, Pheonix, Seatle, and we do. I don't see their draft picks helping them too much, especially if Kandi decides not to leave.
