Robert Horry like 11 pts, 7 rebs, 2 assist, 2 blks, 44% FG, 70% FT Rasheed Wallace 20 pts, 9 rebs, 2 assist, 1 blk, 45% FG Rashard Lewis 17 pts, 8 rebs, 3 assist, 1 blk 44% FG Kevin Garnett 23 pts, 13 rebs, 5 assist, 2 blks, 45% FG Same as now 7 pts, 5 rebs, 40% FG
He will get a little more better. But he cannot be like Kevin Garnett. He just doesn't have the body...and not enough emotion. But MAN....SHAREEF ABDUR RAHIM............
oops. my poll only has 4 options but it will help me gage an idea nonetheless. PLEASE SELECT ONE THAT IS MOST SIMILAR TO YOUR VIEWS. I know they wont match your views 100%. I ask this because I am bewildered at all of you Eddie lovers that do not want to trade him thinking he will be a franchise player some day. The kid has potential and is very young but I see him developing at MOST into a Rashard Lewis type. Assuming my prediction is correct, why wait and suffer 2 or more years for a guy to someday become like Rashard when players of that stature are virtually a dime a dozen (that may be harsh but they are always available via free agency etc.). He will never be the bruising PF we need. If we can get something good for him, I have no problems with trading him.
I guess of the choices you have listed he will be more like Rasheed. I don't see Eddie as a franchise player in the future. I see him more as a 1st teir role player kind of like Otis Thorpe was when he played in Houston. Very Solid. When Eddie finally matures and gets stronger I think he will be somewhere around: 16 points per game 10 rebounds per game 2.5 blocks per game 45% F/G percentage He will be able to do very well against the Western Power Forwards in a couple of years.
I'd say somewhere between Rasheed W. and Rashard L. Possible stats in 5 years: 17ppg 10rps 2aps 2.5bpg 43%fg 35%3fg 70%ft
He has always reminded me of Otis Thorpe. I think is career will be about on par with OTs & will be satisfied with that.
I voted Rasheed Wallace-like numbers, but I suspect it will more like 14 pts, 8 rebs, 2 blocks. I can live with that. With Francis and Yao, I don't expect much more.
Come on Rasheed Wallace and KG are both franchise level players. EG has not shown one bit he has the potential of reaching that level. I think in his prime, he may produce 15 ppg, 8 rpg, 3 bpg. And to be honest, I will be satisfied with this for a No. 7 pick.
I dont want another 16 points from him. That means at least 16-20 shots which takes away from Yao, Francis and Mobley (he will get smarter eventually) I would like 12, 10, 2.5 from him his whole career. With that, I think we would have a contender.
Probably so, but dont you think along the road that we will make some sort of trade for a solid two guard? I mean, Rudy loves a productive two guard. Nachbar could develop as well.
Why is Rasheed Wallace considered a franchise player by some? I don’t think he is a franchise player at all. He is a very good power forward but certainly no where near the caliber of player that Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, Elton Brand and Chris Webber are. He plays very good defense but does not rebound very well. He is a good offensive weapon but in his 8 years in the league he has never averaged 20 points a game in one season. Here are Rasheed Wallace’s best year averages: 19.3 points per game in 01-02 2.5 assists per game in 97-98 8.1 rebounds per game in 01-02 1.8 blocks per game in 00-01 1.3 steals per game in 01-02 Those were his best years and I don’t see franchise player in those stats anywhere. When I think of franchise players I think of Dream, Jordan, Shaq, KG, Magic, Bird, Dr J, Kobe, Barkley, Duncan etc…not Rasheed Wallace. Something else to consider is that Rasheed Wallace was 20 when he played for Washington in 95-96, here are his stats from that year: 10 pts per game 1.3 assists per game 4.6 rebounds per game .8 blocks per game .6 steals a game 27.5 minutes a game Over the course of Rasheeds 8 year career he is only averaging 15.9 ppg, 6.7 rpg and 1.2 bpg in 34.4 minutes per game. I would take Eddies numbers as a 19 year old over Rasheed’s as a 20 year old and Eddie has improved this year. He is a better Rebounder and a much better shot blocker than Rasheed is right now. His defense has improved a great deal from the beginning of the season. I don’t see Eddie ever becoming a franchise player such as KG but I do expect him to surpass Rasheed Wallace. If he produces 15, 8 and 3 as you suggest then he will be just as good if not better than Rasheed.
Of course Wallace is not as good as Duncan and KG. But I would rate him equal to Dirk and Webber. And I would definitely choose him over Brand (who I actually don't rate as a franchise player). I don't care about numbers but when you look at their games, Wallace definitely has more skills on the offensive end and plays way better defense than Brand. He's one of the few players in this league who can actually matchup and defend Duncan, KG etc 1-on-1, Brand does not.
I agree with the last poster, to say that Rasheed is nothing more than a role player however is accurate. It's not that he does not have the talent though, it's just that he doesn't have the mind to hone his game..., I think that if he really applied himself that he would have Duncan-like numbers.
Plus, if you really want to talk about numbers, Wallace is on a very deep team at Portland. If he exchanges team with Brand, I bet he could put up much better numbers. Wallace's a very talented player. His temper is suspect though I have to admit. So maybe that doesn't make him a leader.
Maybe that's why this team is so inconsistent. We seem to have a new Franchis player every year. Two years ago, it was Steve. Last season, everyone was claiming that Griffin would be the future of this franchise. Now, Ming is the "dynasty" Griffin has NBA journeyman written all over him
