This years draft seemed to be very weak. Besides Blake Griffin, every other lottery pick could end up being a bust (that won't happen) . The point is there were not any other can't miss prospects.

The draft the year earlier, was filled with good talent. You could grab a decent player in the middle of the 1st and there were sleepers galore through the rest of the draft.

But how about this years draft?

This will be the first time in a few years that I will be watching the lottery stocks of many players because of the effect it might have on our team. I know that John Wall is supposed to be the king of the draft and I have heard of the big kid from over seas, but who else?

Is this going to be an average draft? A poor draft? Or a good one?

    Just looking for thoughts?

Scouts say the 2010 draft is one of the strongest draft in years... lots of underclassmen though

2010 should be similar to 2008, maybe a little worse. Wall-Favors should play the role of Rose-Beasley, but beyond that the class looks fairly ho-hum.

Here's the Rivals top 10 of the high school class:
    1. John Wall
    2. Demarcus Cousins
    3. Derrick Favors
    4. Avery Bradley
    5. John Henson
    6. Jordan Hamilton
    7. Michael Snaer
    8. Xavier Henry
    9. Keith Gallon
    10. Mouphtaou Yarou

And the Draftexpress top 10 for next year's draft:

    1. John Wall
    2. Derrick Favors
    3. Willie Warren
    4. Cole Aldrich (really?!)
    5. Donatas Motiejunas
    6. Ed Davis
    7. Evan Turner
    8. Al Farouq Aminu
    9. John Henson
    10. Greg Monroe

I like Davis, but traditionally it's been difficult for two underclassman teammates to both get drafted in the top 10 (think Crittenton and Thaddeus Young), much less so for two underclassmen that play the same position. So I think it will be Henson that suffers this year; he might even sit this draft out. There should be some nice athletic big's here: Aminu, Aldrich, Greg Monroe, even Patrick Patterson as an Al Horford-type C, all could be making meaningful contributions to the NBA C position on one team or another.

A lot of quality bigmen unlike this year's Thabeet and noone else (count Griffin and one or two other big PF if you like)

Everyone who has seen Monroe in person knows how underrated he is on draft sites.

I feel Favors is the third or fourth best prospect in this draft. Donatas Motiejunas is definitely the next best prospect to John Wall.

Like others said this draft is going to be pretty strong but its tough to image us getting a top 5 draft pick. We can only hope Morey is done grasping straws and decides to rebuild.

I actually think in this draft, if you are careful, you can get a near star quality player as low as 18 or 19, definitely more than a few double double guys can drop that low. Mainly because I know a lot of people draft for potential rather than for actual basketball skill.

I am shocked he didn't declare this year with Teague and Johnson leaving.

I have no idea how next year's draft is. Most of the headliners have yet to play a second of college ball, you just don't know about these guys until they do. I think John Wall should be good but the rest are unpredictable. The non-frosh entries in the draft look solid, better than this year's draft with the exception of Griffin.

This would be true, except that in the past decade the Rivals high school rankings have outperformed the actual pre-draft rankings from the night before in terms of being able to predict which players will shine through and which ones will become busts once they hit the NBA. Basketball's the one sport where you can see stars coming from a mile away. Wall and Favors will be stars in the league.
