Is Chris Johnson having a terrell davis moment or do you think the guy has Barry Sanders talent?

I have watched this guy, as I see the titans every week. Johnson does a lot of these runs between the tackles but he can beat you any number of ways.

What class would you put him in right now?

He's the best RB in football right now. I honestly don't even think it's that close either

If I were picking one RB, I would still take Peterson over Johnson, but only by a hair. After those two guys, I think only Steven Jackson is even remotely close among other current NFL RBs.

IMO, he has become the best RB in football...Peterson 2nd, MJD 3rd.

I would go exactly the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I think Peterson is really good. Two things are big red flags on Peterson IMO. First, he still has a fumbling problem. It doesn't seem like something he can fix either as it really is tied to his running style. Secondly, he is always banged up. RB's that play like he does don't tend to have long careers.

I was listening to a sports show last week on the radio and the host said he was the best break away back since barry. I agree but the thing about johnson is that he never takes losses. his feet and balance are unreal the way he can tip toe through the line and it looks like he doesn't slow down.

btw, got to pimp a ut back in here, if charles can stay healthy he will put up great numbers also.

Definitely the best home-run hitter since Barry.

That 4.2 at the combine was NO fluke.

Johnson is amazing. Great speed, but also great quickness and good vision. He can see a hole, and has the quickness to get into it, and the speed to break away once he hits the second level. Not a lot of guys have all 3. Some guys have great vision, but don't have the quickness to get to the hole and get through it before it closes. Some guys have speed, but can't see the play developing in time to hit the hole. Johnson is special.

He reminds me of dickerson the way he glides. i dont think i've ever seen a guy go from 0 to a hundred as fast as johnson. He reminds me of marshall faulk alot also.

best breakaway since barry i'll agree with.

but i'm with Berkmaniac...AP just barely ahead of him, with SJax in a clear 3rd...then a big drop.

AP's fumbling issues are an annoyance. But his power advantage over CJ is big. "Banged up" though...he had 350+ carries last year, and he's on pace for basically the same this year. I'm not gonna label him that way just because everyone keeps cramming the "upright running style" down our throats. Eddie George played for a decent amount of time

Dude is insane. He's basically carrying the Titans on his back.

I would just sit Johnson the rest of the year and pay him all his incentives. Keep those legs fresh so he can play with purpose when it counts. You have to worry about that shelf life. Then again, Fisher is probably worried about his job, fans pay to see certain players, blah blah my fantasy team, blah blah.

The thing is Chris Johnson isn't simply a home run back. I'm sure it seems that way since every week he is breaking 85 yard runs. The thing that makes CJ special, at least in my mind, is that he'll bang out a 2 yard run if that is all defense gives him and he is not afraid to play between the tackles. Yet more often than not he turns those 2 yard run into a 5 yard gain because the defense can't get a clean hit on him.

I see CJ as a cross between Barry Sanders and Emmett Smith. He has Emmett's between the tackle runing with the speed and mobility of a Barry Sanders. Obviously, he doesn't have Barry's ability to change direction. But when Chris Johnson sees a hole, he's gone.

Incredible acceleration is I think the most accurate thing I have heard/seen in regards to Johnson. It isn't that he's faster than anybody in particular in terms of top speed, but its how quickly he reaches it which puts him in a class by himself. His Madden accel rating should be 100.

When he shifts into 7th gear, there isn't any hope of catching him.

His patience is outstanding for a speed back though. Seems to be looking to hit the hole and find the crease, whereas Barry had to rely on a lot of cut-backs and juke moves, CJ seems able to pick a gap and outrun everybody... He doesn't quite possess the inhuman make-you miss ability like Barry, but he's easily the most slippery back in the league and can stop on a dime. He's just faster than anybody else. 4.24 speed is ridiculous.

I like CJ, AP, and MJD. Peterson really needs to stop putting it on the ground. He's the best combination of speed, power, and quickness since Sweetness himself.

if CJ = Barry (Just can't catch him) then AP = Walter Payton (The ultimate combo), MJD = Emmitt Smith (touchdown machine, low center of gravity down-hill runner... surprisingly powerful for his size)

He's the best RB in football. Easily.

God, I just picture that play where he's just dancing around the Texans' defenders. He makes like 6 miss. I have nightmares of that play. And he does this to EVERY team. He's unbelievable.

He plays with nagging injuries so it's not a big deal until you start talking about how long his career will be. Eddie George did play for a while but then he went on a dramatic decline. Like I said, I think AP is really good (second best back in the NFL), but I would take Chris Johnson over him without thinking twice. I think they have only used LenDale White once on the goal line this year. It doesn't seem like Johnson has any trouble with short yardage so the strength difference is a non issue IMO.

I'm looking at the 2008 NFL draft results on wikipedia and can someone refresh my memory on why we traded our pick to baltimore to move down in the draft? I knew that the Texans targeted Brown for sure but ...just look at picks 20-22

    Felix Jones
    Rashard Mendenhall
    Chris Johnson

I mean hindsight is always 20/20 but damn....
